As i said most support 3.6mbps now but many new phones that are coming will support 7.2mbps but just from a quick look at Expansys.
Already released devices that support 7.2mbps HSDPA are
HTC Touch Diamond
MWg Atom V
and in the coming soon section is
HTC Touch Pro
LG SH 150n
SE Experia X1
A quick scan of Google aso showed the Moto Z8M which will suppport 7.2mbps HSDPA and there was an interesting post about Telestra launching there 7.2mbps HSDPA Network soon.
Most Networks have at least 3.6mbps HSDPA and will support 7.2mbps HSDPA shortly so whilst a lot of current devices support 3.6mbps. A lot of the new devices coming will be supporting 7.2mbps which is the future of mobile data and just so much faster than 384kbps 3G.

Telstra Australia have already launched 7.2mbps afaik.
and there are a few handsets supporting this that they offer. they have been available for a while now...
some of these phones arent released anywhere else. like the samsung a811 for example:

Telstra use the 850Mhz for 3g and hsdpa which is why they use these strange phones. I had a Samsung A-somethign-or-other for a while with the Telstra branding and they do work very well
I guess this is also why Telstra are taking the iphone 3g on board as it supports 850mhz 3g hsdpa as well as the more common 2100mhz and 1900mhz 3g bands

thats the reason i wont get a phone through Telstra. Since there range is quite limited. Also limited to their own phones, like the samsung a series. And they customise too much now.
Would have been a lot easier using 1900 or 2100 band for hsdpa. but theres no denying its one of the worlds best networks, technically speaking.
I read some where they are expecting 40mbps speeds by next year sometime. Not sure how reliable it was though...

yeah, telstra are supposed to have 21mbps by end of 2008 and 42mbps in 2009... and all done on Ericsson equipment!
I read a story about some Telstra exec saying the iphone 3g would be able to utilise this but that clearly won't be the case
in fact I don't think even now there is any handset available that can use more than 7.2mbps

HSDPA does use 2100 band doesnt it?
New Zealand announced they using 900 aswell for HSDPA.
We have HSDPA 7.2 in Johannesburg South Africa. I think HSDPA max can reach 14MBs after that its Wimax, 50 - 75Mbs.

HSDPA is part of the UMTS standard and can be utilised on any band that UMTS is created for.
I believe HSDPA provides speeds up to 14.4mbps and from there to 42mbps its called HSPA+ but I've not taken much time to read up on that yet
