After every single attempt at merging a real camera to a bar type phone failed, Sony certainly would not do anything like this. Would be too thick, too heavy and if it comes from Sony it'd be way too expensive you'd be better off buying an Alpha camera. A tiny real variable zoom lens would have been cool but I don't think it's possible physically.

Anyone knew the email app killed too?
It is possible, but it would be like Galaxy K Zoom.
It had sensor with exactly the specs of imx220 of Z series.
Galaxy K zoom = 20.7MP 1/2.3" , 24 - 240 mm, OIS, xenon flash
Except the thickness, the body is not that different from xz2c.
My Kodak is 1/2.3" 32-96mm (35mm eqv).
Even with aperture closing to 5.6 , the whole system looks as big as this concept.
Mine is this one below:

I have the dsc-w120. But these lenses are not tiny (sensors are). XZ2 design was... I don't know what happened there, see samsung put a freaking zoom camera in almost the same thickness.

Lenses have differentes shapes, few can be aspheric.
Smartphones have flat lenses, less space required.

Yeah the email app is gone but I've got the apk for it running. I'll switch to Gmail for Android 10.

Seems unlik, but is there any chance we'll get a new Xperia Ear Duo?

What improvement do you expect from a second gen Xperia ear? Those were the open type ones right?
Also interesting news from Samsung. They are shutting down the custom core department and ice universe said 108mp for s11 is highly likely. Sony shouldn't even think about using the 1/2.6" again.

Old post of mr buks was about 12MP 1/1.7".
I think it will be the one.
To keep the lower noise, 10fps burst and 30 fps AE/AF calculations are easier at lower resolution, sadly!!
It is hard to take 12MP when you get used to 20.
Amount of details are huge, I can easily see great roof tiles of houses 100m away.
Close shots of flowers and bugs with great texture.
Corner softness is the only thing that bothers me on my photos.
Mainly on the right upper side.

Cc9 review of dxo shows samples from Huawei too. Looks as detailed at 10mp. It could be proof that we need bigger sensors than more mp. 1/1.7" is good, with rnr it'll probably be very clean and will probably have greater native dynamic range.
That short film didn't make it to tech sites interestingly. I wonder why.
