I doubt SE are that selfless, rather it would probably have had more to do with looking out for themselves, although there is also the thought that any competition for Nokia is good for SE in that it helps to foster competion.

I would rather pay a bit more and know I am buying a quality product; always had a good showing from Sony.

u really think SE is so magnimous when it blocked Nokia take over of Symbian, so that it is for "common" good of others?
No. They were just defending their interests, because the others didn't make s*it about it.

I never had any major problems with the Nokias I had, I just got fed up with the fact that Nokia weren't actually releasing anything new, just the same products that were already available, but with a few aesthetic changes.
One of my favourite mobiles was the Nokia 7110, I got it just after the Matrix came out, a dashed smart indeed.

@methylated_spirit:
if u r just refering to hot swappable slot, i think it absolutely stupid of Nokia to leave out this in 6600/7610/6670. i'm cool with that.
maybe while i'm at it, i also think it is unforgivable that Nokia leave out stereo support for 6600/7610/6670.
i also think it is unforgivable that SE purposely cripple the S700 and P900 so that it can only take 128Mb.

I have a S700, I don't feel it is a major disadvantage that it only supports up to 128 MB memorysticks. Please don't misunderstand me, I much rather that the S700 supported 1GB memorysticks, but if I look at the pros and cons of the S700 it seems more like a minor irritation, the other features of the S700 more than make up for it, in my opinion.
Thankfully SE seem to begetting their act together with regards to memorystick support in the form of the P910 and the V800.

Its nokia all over, though: release 4 phones with a design flaw before fixing it! Look at their 3g phones...pointless. How could you have a video conversation with someone? the camera was on the back...utter stupidity, just like designing a hot-swappable SD card and putting it under the battery. Yeah they sort it out, but common sense dictates that it should never have been done in the first place.
