Nah, you're scaremongering.

No, I'm making a salient point. They could attack the smaller towns and cities, which have less in the way of protection than London does. Scaremongering would be to start spreading rumours of such an attack or becoming hysterical about it.

It is quite prudent to note the danger, but one shouldn't become consumed by it.

My father is flying down to London at this moment and I am rather pleased that he is. I have a trip to London planned for September and I shan't be cancelling it.

Everyone must do what they feel is right of course, but I am reminded of a story a friend once told me:

As a young woman living during the Blitz she was at her desk typing as German bombers began a raid. Both she and her colleague stayed at their desks whilst the raid went on. A bomb exploded nearby and smashed the windows of the building they were in. As the raid finished and my friend was covered in plaster, dust and shards of glass, she suddenly realised that she had made a typing mistake and turned to her friend and said 'Bugger!" before resuming her typing.

@miss c

Don't let other make you feel bad about your decision. Everyone must do what they feel is right in such circumstances and there is neither shame nor dishonour in choosing to be cautionary. The fact that you are choosing to go out at all is hardly indicative of giving in to fear, one doesn't have to be standing in the middle of a city to show courage.

I do hope that people won't avoid London though. I understand people are scared, but we must eventually carry on.

No, you must do what you feel is right for you.

But I hope you feel able to carry on as normal very soon.

Yes, I suppose there is the possibility. Let's just hope they don't bother again, and that our secret service steps up and catches the guys before anything happens in the smaller towns where there is less of an emergency service!

I was listening to some debate on the role of the intelligence services in yesterday's attacks last night. There was some criticism of the intelligence services from some quarters, but I think this is rather unwarranted.

The attacks yesterday were of a nature that is very difficult to intercept. If it was a small terrorist cell acting on its own violation then there is probably little the intelligence services could have done. There have been a lot of plots foiled over the last few years, so I think we do need to give credit were it is due.

Hopefully they shall be able to catch those responsible, but we should remember what happened in Madrid when the terrorists were found.

@vanquish

When the police cornered them they blew themselves up, taking a large part of the building they were in with them.
