Whoa

, go Apple:
Taken from GSMArena:
'Apple having a stormer in Q3, record profit achieved
21 October, 2009
The financial report for Apple's Q3 of the year revealed that the company has had amazing success as of lately. The company recorded their best non-holiday quarter revenue and profit in their history, easily outperforming the unfavorable market tendencies.
The Cupertino-based company revenue totaled 9.87 billion US dollars this quarter and they recorder record net quarterly profit of 1.67 billion US dollars, which is an improvement of 24.9% and 46.5% over the respective numbers in Q3 last year.
The number of iPhones sold in the quarter rose 7 percent compared to last year to reach a total of 7.4 million units. That gives the company a market share of more than 2.1 percent and considering that it's only high-end handsets we are talking here, that's surely quite a lot.
Macintosh computers sales also fared extremely well with the company shipping 3.05 million (17 percent increase YoY). The iPods are the only Apple products that are overachieving during the quarter, with the 10.2 million units sold representing an 8% volume decline from the year-ago quarter.
So to sum it all up, even before the start of the holiday season, Apple have pushed record breaking volumes of Macs and iPhones. And again, their profit per unit (or operating margin) is much higher than the one of any other cellphone manufacturer out there. Some phenomena defy all logic and reason.'

This is how it's done,

Also taken from GSMArena today:
'LG rise continues, breaks its Q3 records with ease
21 October, 2009
Another particularly successful company in the third quarter 2009 has announced its financial results today. LG have recorded their highest-ever revenue and profit for this period of the year.
Their consolidated revenue rose by 15.7 percent compared to last year, reaching 11.2 billion US dollars. Operating profit reached 685 million US dollars, which is 1.3 percent higher than the third quarter last year.
As usual recently, the mobile division is one of the best performing in the conglomerate, recording 3.75 billion US dollars in sales - an increase of 21.9 percent YoY. The operating profit is up 8.4 percent to 314 million US dollars.
Out of those, pure handset sales accounted for 3.53 billion US dollars revenue and 309 million US dollars profit. LG mobiles phones shipments saw an increase of 37% year-over-year and 6 percent quarter-over-quarter to 31.6 million units. Those numbers secure the company the 3rd largest mobile phone manufacturer spot with a market share of about 11.2 percent.
According to LG, the reason behind this success is the robust growth they've been experiencing in emerging and European markets, thanks to products such as Cookie and messaging-oriented phones. However price erosion, along with increased sales of low-end handsets caused the comparatively lower profit figures.'

With those stellar profits Apple proves that money does grow on trees in Cupertino.
I can't say I feel strongly for buying anything Apple...loved their iPod's and laptops but the new stuff does not quite do it for me. This apart from the fact that Apple products, especially their computers are grossly over-priced which explains their massive profits.
