How much did you pay for it?

I know what you mean about the freebies; I only planned to be in there for about 20 minutes - was there for an hour! The phone cost me 5698. A hundred or so more than some other places, but I didn't want to go down the 水货 route this time.

Just received the AN401 car charger, can't believe how small it is.

I also used SEUS to update the Sony software to the latest version (clean install). Lets see if that fixes the reboots.

@AndyD777 the gui is not that spectacular since i had been running it for a few weeks on my x10i, i think i will configure ADW.Launcer EX and make some nice eyecandy.

The thing i do have noticed is the battery, this is on my my first charge thou, i have 82% after 16h10min with light use, that would have been imposible on my x10i.

and it feels so light, will take some time to adjust, the x10i i knew inside out how to hold it/use it in every situation, it's some what slippier.

Update2: i have an older Panasonic plasma, remote does WORK i just forgot to enable Viera Link in the meny.
i noticed that the image was not all over tv, so i had to use Overscan to make it fill the whole area. i know it stretches the image, but if someone else has the same problem that is the solution i found.

@Killmaster9 at first you will get to choices when you go back to the launcher ie original and your second, there you can make the new one always start. if you don't want it any more, you can reset the settings in programs clear cach and such. atleast that was what you did in the x10. just don't remember exactly but it's not much of a hussle

For some reason, it keeps syncing the mails after startup. Dont use the gmail app. It sucks.

Thanks. I don't use Gmail anyway for email.
I set it on email app and it's great.
BTW the email app on Arc is superb.

@doministry + anyone else with similar concerns

Google expect you to always have an data connection to your phone, which in my opinion isn't unreasonable as most providers offer 'unlimited' or high usage data policies for smartphones nowadays.

They also expect you to use the labelling and searching systems in gmail.

Bearing these in mind it's not unreasonable for their gmail app to local cache only the more recent emails and call the rest on user request. Use the search to find specifically what you want instead of filling your SD card with 1000s of emails that you don't reference on a daily basis.

I have 26,000+ emails in all mail combined and I have no issues at all with searching for older emails, loading emails from labels etc. My total bandwidth usage per month for emails is about 20-30MB (I receive about 20-30 important and anything from 50-100 spam per day).

If you really want local storage of all your emails do as se_dude says and use the email app, download your 100 emails and fill up for card.

..and with the brightness, it should be in Settings > Display > Brightness. Does that not show you the brightness control slider?

Thanks. I use Email app for Gmail now which BTW looks better.

As for brightness of course there is the setting for that in Menu but looks like it still performs this automatic thing anyway.
Yes there is brightness control on the widget also which gives screen off (not automatic), max (not automatic), and the set brightness which is ALWAYS adjusting the brightness automatically.
So I cannot set the desired brightness level AND have the automatic off.
What is fckn annoying to be honest. Why can't we just turn this OFF!!!

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo delayed to Q3, Arc and Play facing limited supply due to Japanese quake

There hasn't been much good news coming out of Japan lately and this sadly keeps up with the unhappy trend. Sony Ericsson has officially bumped the broad launch (it's already available in limited quantities) of its Xperia Neo handset to at least July, explaining the delay as the result of "supply chain disruptions." Additionally, the Xperia Arc and Play devices, two other members of the company's new Android Gingerbread family, will be available in smaller volume than expected, at least for the near term. We guess that might go some way to explaining why the Xperia Play failed to reach some UK carriers in time for its April 1st launch date. Skip past the break for a statement from Sony Ericsson, who promises to be more explicit about the situation when it delivers its latest quarterly results on April 19th.

As Sony Ericsson continues to assess the impact of the situation in Japan on its business, we have communicated to our operator customers and distributors that some volume of Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY and Xperia neo phones has been affected. Xperia neo has already been introduced to the marketplace in limited quantities. However, due to supply chain disruptions resulting from the situation in Japan, we have shifted the timing of Xperianeo's broader launch and it is now planned for early Q3.

We will address this topic at the time of our Q1 financial results announcement call that is scheduled for April 19, 2011.
