it might only be me but so far ,despite the heightened expectations,i just dont see any good evidence to suggest the release is all that imminent ie like next week

michal from my-symbian being told by SE he should get a review unit in the end of July
lots of stores got P990 dummys this week (M600 appeared 1 week after the dummys)
etc
One thing i am 100% sure: first units will be out before August
@Johnex, maxmovil said it can be next week, mobile-gadgets said 7-10 days since last friday, etc

Cheers for letting me know it's a proto guys, a pilot in my hotel lobby is pretty interested in it so I might just sell it to him. It feels great in the hand though, nicely weighted, will DEFFO be getting the UK version, worth the wait

For UK potential purchasers of the P990, mobilefun.co.uk now have on their site - and they are usually very careful about announcing such things. So looks like the P990 could on general release at least in the UK 2-3 weeks.

on the P990 price. Well if you pre-ordered from play.com the price is UKP499 and now the price is UKP599. So I think UKP600 is going to be the price in the UK initially, just as the M600 was UKP399 at some places initially.

although a long time buyer from play.com, I take no heed of pre-order prices like that, especially when they come with disclaimers that it may not be (read probably won't be) the final price. play.com sell DVDs, games and gadgets amd are totally not reliable sellers in the mobile phone market. I still remember placing an order for a Nokia 8800 last Christmas for £399 but did I get one at that price... huh! I didn't even get an email saying there was no stock and there never would be.
nah, pre-order prices are generally just best guesses until places like mobilefun and mphone put the phone on their site and then you can take it with more reliability. even expansys prices vary wildly from day to day lately and I no longer rely on them either
