A solution for you is:
1. Do not wait. buy what is available right now because there will always be a better device around the corner. problem solved.

^^ I know this is the only solution, but currently I'm not forced to by any phone as I'm not in a contract.. so I can wait as long as my crap S4 can hold ( or my patience withstand )

For me the main issue is the camera, it needs to be a great camera, full manual control and much better algorithm. Apart from that I can compromise on the rest, 1080p and SD810. A fingerprint sensor would be ideal and type C usb, but not deal breakers.

Well I really do not care about SoC if it does not get extremely hot in my hand. I would love a Z Ultra successor with better speakers, camera and 6 inch screen with a metal chassis. That's all I want from Sony. A premium phablet. By the way if you release a phablet after IFA it is DOA. Note 5 and iphone plus phablets will kick your a**. If your product is good IFA is the best choice for a phablet, if it is not that great before IFA is your best option like in July-August. Vizileaks tweets that we'll see 3 flagships at IFA and May-November info from mail hacks kind of confirms it. If the throttling is solved I don't care if it is SD820 or SD810. I am not going to model anything on CATIA or Cadkey.

It doesn't look like Sony will be using the Snapdragon 820 this year. No Type-C on Z5 either.
Z5 delayed to 2016? I don't think they can compete with SD810 anymore (there were rumors that "project zero" is going to stay on the market for a year).

Sampling does not mean it will be available for full scale production. The 810 also started sampling in the 2nd half of 2014 with more concrete info coming in December of 2014 and the first products came in January of this year and then february and so on. If 820 follows this pattern, CES is the earliest for the new chip and then more models at MWC.
Can only guess that the Z5 will come with 810, hopefully an updated version or at least Sony working with Qualcomm in order to tame the beast.
1. Xiaomi plans to release their new flagship with 820 this year in November so it may not be delayed like 810.
2. There will be no updated 810. 620 maybe?
Xiaomi, has a history of announcing products but not shipping them for some time. They announced the Mi Note Pro with SD810 in December 2014 but didn't start shipping it until a couple of weeks ago. So just because they plan to announce a phone with SD820 in November does not mean it will ship in November.

Another phone has hit the FCC PM0841, here is the link to the docs
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/ea[....]iblICQ%3D%3D&fcc_id=PY7-PM0841
I sat for an hour trying to make a sense of the FCC IDs and connecting them to upcoming phones but things became too complicated and jumbled so I gave up.

Which is why I jump ship and just got myself an s6 edge. Coming from a bunch of SE phones to Xperia T and then to ZL, I've been waiting for that "one" phone to replace my ZL, but felt that z-z3 was not a significant upgrade with speed bumps and minor upgrades here and there. Hopefully they make some good changes for the z5 to make me come back.

surprisingly I'm still using Xperia Z1 and I couldn't find a single reason to change my phone. I couldn't find single reason. After upgrading to lollipop, it is even harder to find the reason. With lollipop, my Z1 is damn great.
Anyway, I'm hoping the next xperia will have significant upgrade compared to Z1 so I will have reasons to justify my upgrade.
