But you could say the same about the K550i and K810i announcements. Why would anyone go for a W610 when then w880i has just been announced.
I think it is to do with pricing.
Obviously thought the W880i was a bit special as it had its very own flash site etc. But that didn't stop the W610i from being announced and you could argue that it is just a repackaged W850i or W810i.
But lets wait and see anyway.

K810i- I can see myself buying this, If, it gains 850 US 3G and Edge. It is just what i wanted, a K790a, in a slimmer more attractive package.
K550i- Also beautiful, but its the same thing as my w810i, but slimmer, and not walkman branded.
W610i- definately the same thing as my w810i but slimmer.
W880i- Slim w810i without auto focus.
It seems like they took the same phones, give or take a few features and shoved them in small metal packages......

I think the bigger question we should consider is how we can all go get jobs as phone designers. Seriously, how much effort did it take to basically release the same phones in slightly(arguably) better packaging? I want that job. I am mostly dissappointed because there wasn't anything really new in these phones just a slightly different button layout which not everyone is a fan of.
