Are different SE phones built in different factories?

Such a huge difference in quality between K850i and other SE models.

I remember one of my first phones was a Sony J5 and at the time it was ace and had fantastic built quality!

I have used Alcatel, 3 Nokia, 2 Samsung & 1SE (750Ii) phones. Currently i own P1i and am pleased to say that Sony Ericsson phones are the best from my experience of about 10 years of cell phone usage. I encountered software crash twice so far in Nokia phones that led to loss of stored data. Sony Ericsson is a confluence of 2 best technology companies. Sony is best in Sound & Photography whereas Ericsson is the best in phone architecture/networking and you get a fusion of European+Japanese technology. P1i though a year old still mesmerizes me with its advance capabilities in Music & Photography, Internet browsing with WLAN, e Book programs, 3D games, touch screen, its seamless hang free/crash free performance & most important the battery life. Accessory like HPM-90 (high end ear plug based hands free with high end neodymium magnets & Oxygen Free Copper cables) with this phone is the best to happen to mobile music for hi-fi music affectionates. My next phone would be probably P5i and hope SE remain for long delivering bang for every buck!! My only concern being in India is that their after sales & services suck as it is outsourced and is handled very badly with too few service centers.

@kunder
If you're into P1i then you should consider X1. At least it's one of those moments where SE proved they didn't blew it (all the time).

its a SE device, SE designed it and all thing in it was made by SE order. HTC only manufactured it.

This case same like when SE make their lowend phone like j-series, i forgot the company name that made SE lowend phones

New phones with new technologies will come and go man...this is telecom tech where things change fast and there are new inventions and discoveries everyday.....

It all lies where your brand loyalty lies, dont worry SE will get its act together.......

so till se gets it's act together one should waste his/her hard earned money over crappy phones all in the name of brand loyalty???

I don't think SE makes all that terrible phones like some people here make them out to be. Everyone brand has its plus and minus, and different product design philosophy. I'm always on the lookout for new interesting phones, that are properly designed and thought through, and will always gravitate back towards SE.

I've used various Nokia phones, even currently, and absolutely do not like the way the menus are arranged, and find it really arduous to use. SE, on the other hand, seems more logical. I've played around with Windows Mobile since the CE and PPC days, and love its power and flexibility, but it just seems messy sometimes compared to Nokia and SE.

I don't think SE has lost the plot yet, and do expect more good things to come from it.

I suppose XPERIA is based on Windows CE operating system and do not know the music capabilities & memory expandability of this phone yet which will be a must for me to shift. For the moment, P1i does everything i wished. I suppose from what ive read, P5i is poised to be a super smart phone. SE has not yet indicated their firm plan to launch this phone. Another major upgrade in new generation phones will be a 16 to 32 gig internal or external memory capability and much faster processor.

P5i is not going to be a ´big´ smartphone if its based on uiq. UIQ´s going to die and it´s no secret. The problem is that as uiq fades so does ´s ´uniqueness´. WM is everywhere. There´s nothing special or unique about a device that runs WM, for example you might as well get a HTC phone which will cost a fraction of X1 and have pretty much the same features. is going the wrong way. Their high end line is becoming ´common´ as their mid/low end line is too god damn repetitive and boring. I see no real successful future for . They have nothing revolutionary or groundbraking. They are living on a name they created years ago. It´s a shame. I wont say anything else, its enough.

I just visited a mobile expo and guess what? It's a bit crazy but the launch price of X1 in my country is IDR 6,000,000. Convert that to US dollars and with the current rate its price would be US$ 545, give or take a few cents.

Is this a fluke? But what I do know is that for the last few years, the price of SE phones have always been cheaper (for about 10-20%) in my country. And 90% of phones sold in my country are of course SIM-free! Madness!
