unless this is zoomed in.. it shouldn't be that bad

Ive seen this in many cameraphones before. It would seem to be a common design fault. Hopefully this will be something they will fix in the final product. The 1020 does seem more obvious, probably since its sensor is so much more bigger to allow for this type of distortion.

the fact that they can resolve 41Mpix with optics smaller than my thumb nail.. ya.. whatever
So, it seems like they are using "adaptive" oversampling.. more at night, and less during the day.. the reason being that if you use less you can get a sharper photo.
I dunno.. but I have to say that the night pics looks pretty impressive, and I've seen the iphone 5 destroyed by the 808 plenty of times.. no difference here

1020 Pureview should be at least better than S4 (Octa Core) and S4 Zoom, but until now in all the examples below has been disclosed !
The truth is one, with future firmware updates until he can reach the same level as the S4 (Octa Core) and S4 Zoom, but he will never surpass or even match the 808 Pureview !
