So very interesting results:

Again no shame for Z5. Good to read all of it.
In same cases Z5 could win without oversampling.

But what's funniest? LGG4 was the worst according to 8000 readers
iPhone the best - completely off the website's marks.
That says ALOT.

one from android authority looks great. I have a feeling that most other manufacturers problem also have QA issues, its just that this is a Xperia topic so you see all the xperia complains here. I know people with G3 died after using it for a week. Lots of LG defects actually, not specifically on the cameras.

Woohooo!

Bell exclusively selling the Sony Xperia Z5 on October 29
Source: http://mobilesyrup.com/2015/10/20/bell-xperia-z5-october-29/

Bell is set to be the only Canadian carrier, and potentially the only Canadian retailer since Sony shut down its retail operations, to carry the Xperia Z5.

The company announced today that it is bringing the Xperia Z5 to Canada for $199.95 on a 2-year contract and $649.95 outright starting October 29th.

Sony announced the Xperia Z5 at IFA in September, making the largest aesthetic and functional change to its product line since the original Xperia Z back in early 2013. Sporting a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a brand new 1/2.3″ 23MP rear sensor with an F2.0 lens, the device is a big improvement over the Xperia Z3. Elsewhere, Sony’s outfitted the “waterproof” handset with a 2,900mAh battery that promises two days of uptime, along with a 5MP front-facing camera, all running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

Bell is releasing the Xperia Z5 in white and black models. No word on whether the Xperia Z5 Premium or Compact is coming to Canada this fall.

Sweet! I have a corporate contract with Bell so this is a GOOD thing. Pricing is sweet too. the only issue is I want the compact.

I've taken a good look at the various camera tests now and I think the blame goes to Sony. Tests for Superior Auto show that it isn't great and that is what 90% of users will use, you want to whip out your phone and take a quick image without messing out with night mode or low light whatever. The Auto implies that the phone decides for you and that is how I want it to be, I cannot be bothered with manual settings because I know I wouldn't be good at it. The fact is that SA needs to be better. In defense, I have a Z1C and I've done all my photo albums in SA which to me look awesome when I print to 4x6 size. I cannot fault it despite reviews saying its average at best, I just recently took some amazing wet shots of Niagra Falls.

For me, the Z5 would be great and the photos would meet my expectations. I have no doubt that I'd be happy with the end results but I'll wait for the 6.0 update and some more reviews. I'm not an early adopter of phones anymore because of quality control issues that Sony has. It looks like the Pocketnow unit has a crap module and they'll write an honest review saying that the camera is disappointing, you can't fault them for that and I suppose other units have crap modules. That's on you Sony, only the people of Esato, Xperiablog or XDA will be aware if there are defective units and not the general public.

The truth is that if you take the reviews so far, iPhone and S6/Note 5 produce better images. The module is capable if its not a dud so its a software issue. The images don't have to beat them but the gap needs to be smaller I'm afraid.

Z5's camera is very inconsistent, some phones are taking excellent pictures but many of them are simply crap with lots of blurr, especially on the left side.

Now im afraid to buy z5 series. I thought the blurriness could be fix by software update but it's the lens problem. Some users replace the z5 2-3 times but the problem still occurs. Why are you doing HTC and going suicide sony?

blind camera comparison
z5 vs ip6s vs galaxy s6

z5 appears to be doing great because you don't see the blurring on the corners/sides.

i just can't understand why these noobs compare using auto without getting the same scene. they know that the z5 has a significantly wider field of view but they insist on staying in the same location when shooting. as such, the camera's superior auto misjudges the scene and tries to brighten up the whole scene because of the greater amount of darkness. they should try getting closer to let superior auto judge and adjust to the same scene that other cameras are taking.

still, i am impressed by this:

that's ISO 1000!
imagine how good it will be if the z5 took the photo with the same settings as those of the s6 and ip6s.
