Facepalm! Again Sony is doing the same thing they have be doing the past years. Late releases seem to be their thing. But this time they can be forgiven.
I think article is referring to JP market only. They first get the carrier version then the unlocked version. Again it could mean that EU model will be released in May as well but we will see.

From Buks ...
"The differences between Sony Xperia 1 II (mark 2) DSEE Ultimate and DSEE HX are:
DSEE Ultimate can use AI technology to intelligently improve audio quality and focus on improving the performance of high and low frequencies; the new technology can also analyze and improve third-party online streaming audio; and whether it is wired or wireless Bluetooth headset, Can be adapted. * Headphones must support Hi-Res Audio or Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification."
"According to foreign media reports, the launch time of Sony Xperia 1 II and Xperia 10 II
may be delayed for several weeks due to the
impact of the epidemic and
rising consumer expectations.
But tomorrow 3.18 Japan docomo will hold a new product launch conference, there may be an updated listing date. "

Nice to see you're in the market again! Think we'll be in the same boat. Are you thinking import or wait for the American version? Especially with the whole unsupported 5g thing...

Docomo will sell it for price bit over S20+.
$1140. Then , there are things that drop price.
Japan has always higher price than USA.

If they bundle 256GB version with 1000Xm4 for $1199 I would pull the trigger in pre-order. I know regional Sony sales manager so I will ask for a employee discount too if available. That's how I shop my Bravias

6 years since Z2 and first xperia with 4K video.
Better and stronger cpu every year.
Do you think weird that Intelligent SteadyShot is still just for
1080@30 after all this time?

You mean Intelligent Active? I don't think it's possible on current 12mp sensors to go beyond 1080p, because as far as I know they simply crop 4K video. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Since they are introducing 4K 60 FPS now we will be able to get Intelligent Active with 1080p 60FPS, who knows.

EIS does crop, no matter the resolution.
SS is better at 1080p30 because it is easier for hardware to deal with the task. Okay.
But my point is, the SD845, 855 and 865 are so much stronger than 801.
Still the best mode is restricted to
1080@30 like it has been since 2014.
From weibo ....
" The Sony Xperia 1 II (mark 2) will be updated within a period of time after the release. The update will add the following features:
- Added eye tracking focus function for 16mm ultra wide-angle lens.
- Added low-light high-sensitivity shooting to the 24mm standard lens, which can obtain 1.5 times the sensitivity of X1.
- Movie masters will add 2K 120 frames and 4K 60 frames video shooting capabilities.
Again they will ship without all features. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

My point is that it only works in 1080p @30fps because they crop the 4k @30fps feed, nothing to do with the computational power of the SoC. Since they were not able to shoot resolutions higher than 1080p when shooting 60fps, they naturally can't enable Intelligent Active at 1080p @ 60fps. AFAIK Samsung's Super Steady shot partially relies on this, and it similarly cannot be enabled in 4k or 1080p @ 60fps (even though the settings say so, exported video is still 1080p @ 30fps). Samsung can shoot 4k @ 60fps though, so there must be something else going on as well.
Anyway, when entering Xperia 1 ii into search bar on clove.co.uk the price displayed is 1200 GBP. I wonder if it's an actual price, or just a placeholder. This is the exact same price as Galaxy S20U 128GB.
