thanks! so you live in dubai? ive heard that electronic devices are very cheap there compared to other countries. how true is that?

@all
thanks for the warm welcome. i think ill enjoy my stay on this arab forum.

yep...actually i just got back here last year after i went for college there in the Philippines. during my stay there i've met many esato members specially with the PCC boys where regular ebs took place. though i have lived in dubai for at least 12years and counting, i still consider this place my home.
Anyways, they are rather cheap here; as long as you know where to go or look for instead of the shopping malls. When you say cheap, it is compared to genunie/authentic products from official distributors like Axiom(here) and Semicon(there). Sometimes it seems cheaper there because of the gray/black market where electronics like phones, tvs, psps, etc. are sold, however they don't usually have warranties. I believe its better getting these electronics from reputed shops or sellers with warranties in case something goes wrong with the product.
Example: Axiom sells the k800i for 1799aed, converted that is 25.1k pesos while Semicon sells them for 29.5k pesos. Also, most of the times shops here bundles their units with either bluetooth headsets or memory cards thus becoming cheaper than there.

@b3rx - oh ok, the PCC boys usually meet up in makati so sometimes i couldn't make it aswell but anyways hang around there and just simply interact with them. So, same lifestyle hehehe Anyways, you do contact me whenever you do hang around the gulf. Maybe, we could have an eb along with a pioneer esatonian member, luwi, who also happens to work here.

@amnesia - so how's your trip? did you happen to get a P990 in duty free? as of the moment i haven't been in malls so i couldn't update you guys regarding the P990.

nope, no P990's in duty free. But a friend did come to the airport and give me one. I ended up selling it for 500 pounds because I decided I'll wait til the price drops.

I bought a D900 at the end of the day.

What should I do to be able to read arabic sms on my Sharp GX30 or the new Sharp GX40?

Que dois-je faire pour pouvoir lire des sms en arabe sur mon Sharp GX30 ou le nouveau Sharp GX40?

Beats me. You might want to ask somewhere with a few more sharp users than esato although amnesia seems to have almost every phone on earth worth buying.

@mustafa, that made me laugh so hard.

@arabica, the only way is to install arabic firmware as far as I know. I do not think that it's released in the Middle East though (you hardly see any Sharp phones). BUT if you can find the 'font' file on the phone you could install the appropriate arabic fonts.

Where to find the folder or how to hack the Sharp is unknown to me though.

I'm sorry I couldn't help as much.

Hello again. SE how long should i wait for P990i. i called Sony Showroom, Axiom and Etisilat - no news, when it'll arrive in Saudi Arabia.
Anyone knows when it will be available in the market. Im hesitant to ask somebody in dubai to bring it over next week, as warranty and acquiring support may prove to be difficult if in case it becomes buggy etc.
Can somebody update me when it will be here in the Kingdom.
