@Muppet,
I guess SEUS uses a similar nethos as Cruiser's "autodetect" be reading the TAC part of IMEI from OTP, hence detecting what model it is and hence making it impossible to fool SEUS unless you find and undertsand that CALL in the code
This is BAD news... It seems as if changing the CDA is pointless for future SEUS usage afterall. Refer to the K750>W800 thread for interesting technical information.

Well, I unbranded my K750 and changed the CDA to the correct CDA. SEUS now downloads the correct, unbranded firmware. Seems to work as desired

It was a branded German phone.

Maybe that's why SEUS downloads the right unbranded firmware, your phone was bought in Europe and flashed with an european variantion....so when SEUS check the IMEI and CDA it noticed nothing strange...
But my phone is from Honk Kong, with APAC_1 customization, IMEI probably belonging to asia zone...so, when SEUS checks my IMEI and CDA (actually changed to LAM_2) it noticed that I'm not telling the truth so it downloads the hong kong firmware.....
That's what I think about all this CDA/IMEI check!

Could be. I previously used SEUS and it downloaded the branded firmware, but as you say correctly, I'm still using a firmware from the same geographical region. So maybe there's kind of a 2-stage-check in play here.

I have a vodafone k750i which i unbranded. Updates on the SEUS with unbranded firmware fine.
For info, here is the updating history of this phone:
- Bought with original vodafone customised firmware
- Used SEUS which upgraded to ver r1J still with voda branding.
(this caused GPRS problems for me)
- Used Davinci to re-flash it to r1J generic and changed CDA to 102338/38 R6A
(phone was now unbranded)
- Used SEUS yesterday which upgraded to r1L unbranded.
(upgraded fine, phone remained unbranded).
Seems UK voda unbranding/cda-change is fine if you want to use the SEUS in future.

PRECISELY!!
Notice that all users who are reporting success with SEUS after flashing their K750s with Davinci have flashed firmwares from the same geographical location.
I'm facing the EXACT same problem as Alex. Not good

It is as simple as the CDA needs to be changed to the generic one of your country when you flash with DaVinci. If you don't, then the SEUS will rebrand. I have just used the SEUS to update to R1L and it downloaded the correct unbranded firmware.
