This list basically confirms that C6906 Z1 will not be sold unlocked. What a stupid move by Sony. LTE is a must form most people getting a new phone and who is going to pay $ 743 for an unlocked phone that doesn't have LTE? I am not
This is a list of upcoming Sony Mobile products in the US with the MSRP.

well that sucks. not a good move by sony, but perhaps they didn't have a choice since they really wanted a carrier to pick it up and help them market it, the way tmobile markets the Z.
i'm guessing tmobile will be picking it up. the question is, which version.. C6906 or C6903.. and for how much? if that $743 is sony direct price, then Tmobile is probably gonna price it at $649 or $699.
the good thing, is if you're willing to pay the full price up front, tmobile WILL unlock the phone for you. the bad thing, is you're still stuck with all the tmobile branding and bloatware.
guess i made a good decision ordering form handtec.. i hate branding!

Anybody else having bad reception from WIFI? At my end it's neither really bad but not good either. Where my 4s has good reception my Z1 sometimes is looking for it

Thanks for sharing!
The middle of the frame is ok, but the edges are quite messy.. if I had to guess on that particular image you have about 20-30% of the frame out of optimal sharpness.

T-Mobile will not unlock the phone. Below is the T mobile policy for unlocking phones.
To SIM unlock your phone, follow these steps:
Understanding SIM unlock requirements
As an active or former T-Mobile customer, you may request a SIM unlock code for your device directly from T-Mobile, without charge. In order to qualify to receive the SIM unlock code your device must not be reported as lost, stolen, or blocked and you meet the following criteria:
You have purchased your device from T-Mobile or an authorized T-Mobile dealer and activated it on T-Mobile service;
You have requested no more than 2 SIM unlock codes per line of service in the last 12 months.
You paid for your device in full;
Your account is in good standing;
Your device has been active on the T-Mobile network for 40 days;
If you are under a service contract, you have made monthly payments for at least 18 consecutive months on your plan, or have paid a migration fee for the device; certain exceptions may apply please call Customer Care for details;
If you are on a Prepaid plan, you have had more than $50 in total refills on the device;
If you are a former customer, your account balance is zero and you did not port out a line associated with the device during the buyer’s remorse period;
You provide proof of purchase if T-Mobile is unable to verify purchase.
Note: Additional restrictions may apply, please contact T-Mobile Customer Care for more details. Exceptions to some or all requirements may apply in certain circumstances, including for Military Personnel and Business and Government Accounts.

just turned on my Z1 for the first time.. screen is GORGEOUS. viewing angles are decent but definitely not 178degrees. i'd say about 40 degrees either side of center. so 50-130 range. that is sufficient for me, but obviously others care more about viewing angles than i do. there is definitely loss of contrast/color saturation when I view from an angle. however, compared to my XS it is much better (my only reference handy).
with certain images that have different shades of lighter colors, they will start to blend together as you move away from a straight ahead view and darker/richer colors will begin to fade a bit. At the most extreme angles (like 175 degrees) only things that are in shades of lighter colors blend into a white blob.. darker objects are still visible. but if you ever have the need for viewing the screen at this angle.. well.. maybe Z1 isn't for you heh.
Overall, I do not think it's a bad screen at all though. It's much better than my XS and I was very happy with my XS, so I can't really complain. I'll take photos later to post.
@dacha
that policy basically repeats what I said in legal language. i said, if you pay for your device in full from tmobile, they will unlock it for you. the only thing that's different from what i mentioned is that you have to wait 40 days from the date you purchased it from tmobile. essentially, you have to signs on for at least 2 months of service in their no contract plan.

considering the fact that they both cost the same... really i love you sony and all, but shame on you.
the z1 is still awesome device, but why going for a cheaper panel on a device that costs 700euros !!!
while the LG G2 costs 599 euros and delivers a much better screen!
and the screen is the part that costs the most!
