Got my misty silver Xperia Arc since 7th April.
My impression: HTC Desire Z is far better than Xperia Arc except the camera. It doesn't mean that the Desire Z camera is bad, it's good, but Arc simply better in this department only.
With almost the same apps installed on both devices, my Arc performs very slow, slower than Desire Z.
Opening an app took much times than Desire Z.
It is very very slow. So frustating.
I'm really disappointed with Xperia Arc.
One more thing: HTC Sense is better than SE's UXP.
I will stick to my Desire Z and buy the new HTC when available, may be the HTC Sensation.
I'm sorry SE, you're disappointing me again.
It is a very fast device just poorly built with crap battery
Name one Android phone that has a long-lasting battlife...
So true.

Even though I like sliding keyboards I disagree, my Arc it super fast and responsive, the much larger screen makes typing on screen easy. It's also a pretty nice looking screen as well. HTC Sense is not important enough to make a difference for me. The Arc is sexy as heck to look at and it will even play games full screen on my TV via HDMI without a single stutter. There must have been something wrong with the one you have.

have used my arc for a few days now and all i can say is wow. this is hands down the best phone i've ever used. its so slick, never experienced any lag, even after downloading and installing quite a few apps, many at the same time, the phone never crashed or slowed down....i can say that the people who feel this phone is slower than others prob have a dud unit...even a friend with a nexus s says my arc is quicker...it has been a great few days with this phone and i'm really impressed. so much so that i told a couple friends and now they are getting one as well... they are coming from an iphone and noted that the experience is just as fluid if not more so than the iphone4. the only problem i have noticed with this phone is that the power button is pretty small...it gets quite hard to press sometimes... also, timescape doesn't seem to have the option to show emails no more...that seems a bit weird...the screen is amazing and hd photos just jump out at you...its the best looking phone by far and it can only get better once rooted and everyone is able to customize the crap out of it to suit their needs...this is a great success for SE...

Very surprising after read on you comment though. I guess it probably of region software version was difference one from Europe and HK (Mine saw HK videos was fine) also or maybe defected unit received somehow would you like try to flash new ROM first.
Is your Desire Z was official ROM or customized one?
btw, new Sense (I guess it right one, just saw it on EVO 3D at CTIA 2011 review) also impressed me as well, very cool futuristic and look intuitive one

Samsung Galaxy Apollo is one such phone with Android that I have owned and lasts three days with heavy use. The Arc is defo fast but has poor plastics for its price imo and a battery that after a few charges never lasted the day. Was sad
