I hope that is a mistake in saying ARM11.

I would love to drive the 911 TurboS.

Man, what happened to this section of the forum?

I actually get lost looking for the thread because of all these 'free browsing in SA' and their sub-thread.

I miss the good old days when you knew you'll find strictly the regional threads and not some trolling.

This must be the most excited ive been about a phone. Busy reading through the N8 Official thread at HowardForums and some are speculating it could be using a Tegra600 CPU,this thing was the most powerful ARM11, had quite a few A8-Cortex features.
Heres its spec sheet:
Tegra 600* Processor ARM11 MPCore @ 700Mhz, 16/32-bit LP-DDR, NAND Flash support* Audo/ Video Processing 720p H.264 and VC-1/WMV9 decode, 720p H.264 encode, Supports multi-standard audio formats, including AAC, AMR, WMA and MP3, JPEG encode and decode acceleration* Imaging Up to 12 megapixel camera sensor support, Integrated ISP, Advanced imaging features* True dual-display supportMaximum display resolutions supports:- 720p (1280กม720) HDMI 1.3- SXGA (1280กม1024) LCD- SXGA (1280กม1024) CRT- NTSC/PAL TV out.

@ Tsepz: You're spot-on. It's such an impressive car dealership. @ Dups: LOL, there's a single Carrera GT in black there for a cool 10 mil. What a stunning supercar. Apparently the only one left of its kind for sale. Will post pics over the next few days; at the moment I'm about to board the plane back to the UK. Eish, looks like the very heavy fog around here is delaying things a fair bit...

Thanks, that's not bad at all.
Personally, I don't mind whether if I can take the battery out or not...

Seems the N8 uses the ARM11 as its processor, no, not tegra. Probably why the price is this low.

Eldar mentioned that it slows down considerably when it is loaded with stuff which would also explain the processor type. It seems the GPU is the one that is decent.

I was thinking that this is in line with Nokia's strategy of downgrading Symbian to a mid end OS while keeping Meego as their new high end. The N8 certainly doesn't fit the mid end tag but the processor sure does.

I will wait to see how it performs when it is a final retail unit.

Back in the Uk and already working flat-out. No rest for the wicked, LOL.

@ Hobbster:
Yoh boet, I'll be giving the N8 at twice-over, that's for sure, particularly after checking out the quality of those pics in the link you posted.

@ gola:
Brilliant pic! :

Thanx bro,gna check it out for sure! Its gna be very interestin, coulda never seen those two doin a collab.
Dups
Yep,it aint a Tegra,as it turns out Tegra doesnt support Symbian,so the only other chip is the Broadcom BCM2727, Broadcom being one of the chip makers in the Symbian Foundation, yep, the GPU is whats realy fantastic, as well as the fact that it does Penta-3G frequencies, so NOKIA will make ONE N8 model type for the whole world instead of having EMEA/APAC and then another for NAM.
Its a shame that it slows down when it has a load but guess what? So does the iPhone3GS, ive experienced it stuttering and freezing sometimes when moving between heavy apps while playing music, Satio had a problem with the music stuttering when multitasking, HTC HD2 had some lagging issues as well, and these are devices running on ARM A8s. The CPU isnt the be all and end all of the phone, i think the N97 did some major damage to ARM11 CPU's reputation, problem is that it had a very mediocre ARM11 that lacked any sort of graphics acceleration, and on top of that too little RAM, all under an OS that was a lot more resource hungry than S60v3. The same hardware worked wonders on the E66, E71,N76 ,N78, N79, N81 and N85, it all depends on the software. Look at the 5800 and N97 now, completely different to what they were before, due to software improvements, ARM11s are still capable,if the correct one is used and the OS its running is optimized for it,i think N8 will be fine at release, it wont be as bad as N97, but will be buggy,as no device can be thoroughly Beta tested without the consumers (usualy the early adopters) getting their hands on it. sorry for the long post!
