We'll also have 3x optical zoom by the end of this this year
First SE decided not to incorporate optical zoom into upcoming devices...but
thank god they changed their minds

The next phone which will have the optical zoom will be the K850i successor having its market debut in November this year.

I was hoping the P5i would have it. I see no reason why Paris, Beibei, or any other upcoming models cant have optical zoom if SE are already using it. They have the technology, so why wait. It would benefit us and increase their share of the market.

Business users dont need optical zoom, as a matter of fact some companies ban employees from using camera phones.

That's interesting that optical zoom is discussed here,
but nobody thinks of like a good Word implementation,
Or even more convinient Messaging app,
I mean c'mon a phone is not a camera to make art photos (maybe it will be some day....)
Just my viewpoint.

Boring maybe, but good point. I'd like to see a proper OCR for scanning in documents, a step forward from the business card reader in the P1. Would save people like me a hell of a lot of time and I wouldn't have to carry a full trees worth of paper around.

Well, improved resolution and a larger screen should aid document handling in general. Maybe an update of quickoffice could be used in the new UIQ. It will definately be there though. How would a phone be an OCR scanner? Surely you can just take a picture if you have a nice 5MPX Camera with optical zoom and a macro mode. Still, the only way to truly get it in document form is using a copier or scanner. A phone is simply too small to scan an A4 sheet so that it appears flat IMO. Hmmn I see what you mean though, it could convert it into text, etc. That WOULD be genuinely useful. Though people have told me that the business card scanner is very buggy. Would be great if they added that though.

Reason I say is that my uni mate has a pen scanner that's a bit larger than an average highlighter pen. You scan line by line, then he'd IR transfer it to his P900 as a word document which he would then print. While I would carry 3 or 4 huge library books, he would just have his pen and P900. I think it's quite valid and so damn useful for students, teachers, you name it. I wish the P5 is full of little extra features to set it apart from the others i.e. some Walkmans have accelerometer and shake feature while others don't, I want a total package and I see what you guys mean by SE not putting in AF into all phones when they have the ability. It has to be bad ass not half ass.
