why the hell is that?? why are they blocking them? it doesn't make any sense !!
as for the blur, it is really horrible, but when you focus at the right you still get much sharper right frame, so the lens can produce that sharpness, i think it is a software failure along with cheap wide lens (yeah even the carl ziess lenses on the nokia are cheap. wide lenses, specially cheap ones, tend to have soft corners, UNLESS you pay more than 600 euro for a wide lens.. then you will get the good ones with extremely sharp corners too.. so some softness is normal, but in the case of the z1, it seems like major software fail...

@Moogoo They don't check by SIM, probably by the location of IP address or something along the line of that. When I had my Xperia Privilege App installed, I didn't even have the my sim card in there. Was using wifi from my house.
@DACHA Thanks for the info. Do hope the firmware gets released within a week and possibly solve my issue. If not, Z1, back it goes. Just in case you didn't know, I'm having the same issue as GSMArena's right side blur on their camera samples.

The same again. The screen looks great in front of.
It changes under crazy angles but who cares? Really?
This idiocy is quite surprising.

its not idiocy, when you pay 700 euros! as much as the xperia z ultra, AND 100 euro more than the LG G2, you would except to get a screen as the same level with them or the HTC ONE or the IPHONE...

I can absolutely determine that this is a hardware issue. Even with the right of the frame focused, it's still a bit soft. With a third party app, like Camera MX, the effect is not as big, but still noticeable. Going to wait one more week, see if any new firmware will be out and pray for the impossible. Which is fixing a hardware issue with a software update..... Oh well, the pain of losing my Z1 is going to be great. Now deciding between a full refund or an exchange. Aaah, the choices.
Its most likely the optics.. its very tricky to make such small wide lens sharp from end to end. It was the same exact thing with the N8.. you can remedy the situation with software, but it will never go away.
Depending on the manufacturing process Sony are using, this issue might vary greatly from phone to phone.. if they are adjusting the elements on each lens individually for greater precision (which is what Nokia does with the 808) they might be able to adjust their manufacturing..
Its all guess work for us.. but I am hoping that the number of units affected is low.

But it is on the same level. And only Sony is waterproof and dustproof.
Pointless discussion.

The screen isn't on the same level, I'd say HTC One, LG G2 and S4 have better screens.

@MNX - i did the same thing. used xperia privilege without sim and with WIFI and it didn't say anything. Then i stuck my SIM in and tried again, and it said it would read the SIM to determine the region for offers. *shrug*

How more many pages before people realise it's a screen lottery? It's like people are only here to troll. The ignorance is astounding.
@moogoo
I remember when the offer was first introduced, people got around it easily. Try search for that way.
