@nodar
that person leaked that news in early may.. besides, I think the next flagship will be called Z5, because Z4 name is already used in Japan, even if the international version is Z3+, but it will be confusing for some people if they name it Z4.. and also, I didn't trust ViziLeaks from the beginning

It is an old prototype based on Sony Super Top Emission OLED and WhiteMagic technology nothing new.

The only thing that i don't like with OLED is they have frequently been too high in contrast, making shadow detail impossible to see in bright scenes other than that i have no problems.

The advantages of JDI OLED is.
1. RGBW instead of RGB or Pentile in theory it will be brighter but still consume less power and has better image quality + sharper than Pentile AMOLED.
2. By using White OLED as a backlight they will have no problem with Blue OLED short life span.

At the end of the day if JDI can maintain the quality of the screen as sony do on their Trimaster monitors, JDI OLED will beat the crap out of Samsung Diamond Pentile AMOLED display in everything.

This may be about existing phones, but I think it's very relevant for any discussion about Xperias launched in 4Q. Basically DoCoMo is warning its customers about overheating for phones using the 810:

The Z4/Z3+ is using the 810 V2.1, but it is throttling on consecutive runs. The problems seem to be surfacing when you do 4k recordings or playing games.

So what SoC can Sony use for any high-end in 4Q? The 820 may be ready at the very end of the year, but in which quantity?

Wow this bodes poorly for the fall flagship, wonder what Sony will do, how likely is it that samsung is willing to sell their exynos to other customers?

^Meizu's MX line is running on Exynos socs and the new MX5/Pro is rumored to be equipped with Exynos 7420. But Meizu isn't selling its devices internationally (yet).

The latest Exynos is a big advantage over the other flagships so Samsung wouldn't sell unless the SD820 is also weak in which case they may sell their chip and monopolise that area similar to Sony and its camera modules. It would be suicide for Sony to use SD810 no matter what kind of revisions are made because of the negative press. SD820 or even Mediatek would be a better option.

After todays docomo warning news I don't believe the rumors of Z5 using SD810. I cannot imagine docomo adding another overheating flagship to its winter line-up. I would say no Z5 at IFA. Announcement postpone to December or CES.
