Very true. Theyre never as concerned with specs as other manufacturers. Given that, youd at least expect there to be more to them which makes up for figures which at the moment are lagging behind the rest.

Yes,
valid points,
just my point was that if Px brings amazing video recording but built in Office will not be able to handle like 60 pages Word document,
in this case I rather omit it, it will be another "shiny" and fashion toy,
without any real work abilities.
i may be boring for you,
but playing toys is not on my first place, but usability,
I hope it won't be lost on Pnext, or rather improved. I mean, why should I purchase DocsToGo, if I buy a flagship?
I'm so curious how will it be.

I also hope that at least one of these UIQ devices will be a decent business phone. I don't really care that much about optical zoom or 30 fps video recording. Decent quality pictures and decent video playback is quite sufficient. On the other hand, I expect to see great improvement in PIM functions, backup/restore, data synchronization. I definitely do not want a P1 style keyboard. Flip would be nice but I will keep an open mind for other designs.
It is very important for me that the device is a phone first, ease of use as phone only, then a PDA, not the other way round. This means I should be able to do most things one handed, just like on the P990.
An iPhone wannabe or a Walkman/Cybershot is not my idea of a business phone and does not appeal to me. I'd rather have good email features (including proper attachment handling) than a silly shake feature for media player.
Up to now, the previous "P"series devices were able to deliver this and more. Let's see what these new Symbian devices bring us...

I agree with both of you come to think of it, which brings me to my point that their flagship phone should not be a P device. I thought it would be best that it would be some combination of walkman and cyber-shot, or the now rumoured Xperia. These ranges would have a whole spectrum of different users. The business users, however, would want something that phones, has all the connectivity and business functions, and that is it. Still, bear in mind that the P in P-series stands for PDA, so its never necessarily been business oriented only. The phones seem more suitable to those who want the business tools, but also like having pretty good specs, more the executive type, as I thought it. Anyway, I have a feeling that this device will be much better in pretty much every way. Its been so long since the P990 was released, and since then nothing has really come along and improved on it IMO. P1 had better specs, but in terms of PDA usability its not as if the web browser was much better, or the email use, or the document handling parts (yes, I know they were probably faster). With the implimentation of a new UI I think all of this will be rethought. Hopefully it will not be the same version of Quickoffice which has been around for years (Im actually suprised Microsoft hasnt tried to sell some Office Mobile '07 as a symbian app). The soon to arrive Opera 9 and Skyfire web browsers should ensure a good internet browsing experience, and the latest connectivity should be there (HSDPA AND HSUPA if you are a frequent business user) WLAN b AND g, etc.

You are right in that the previous P series had all the bells and whistles in addition to business tools. If SE can put everything in one device the flagship could still be a business phone, which is something of a misnomer though. Actually every phone should have decent backup/restore, sync capabilities. Business users want extended messaging capabilities and others want better camera and music options. So, a good designer could have all these at the same place. The question is, does SE have that designer working for them?

@makbil

You are abs. right!
This (or maybe another new business ser. phone) must be completely capable to work like a phone/massinger/PDA apparatus!
With all keys, wheels, touches and stylus and all kind of keyboards!
This include also and completely mechanical and OS robustness and also gabarites!
After that they must worry about multimedia and another stuff!
Of course if they (SE) want this kind of phones to produce and sell!
Again, I must to underline (sorry) the Nokia´s E phones portfolio where this firm is recently distinct this kind of phones (E51 and E71) from another
Good luck SE!

Right,
I'd just a little modify
Tigersharks42 idea,
I mean - flagship should contain ALL best what is possible for a smartphone,
Exactly when you buy a highend laptop,
it's not having selected features - I mean to some extent it gives alot in all fields.
So, I'm not ONLY writing docs on my phone. Media are important, modern time feature,
I rather speak about priorities.

Yes, but what I meant was, fine, nothing wrong with having a P-series flagship, thats great. But for people who want the business core of a P series device, why not have a lower end device with fewer multimedia functions and other features; just having all the business capabilities and connectivity a business user would actually need.

looks like Pnext has more competition from an unlikely competitor.... Garmin.

The nuviphone has been announced.
