Hey how are the US members doing?
From the news stories we get down here I understand it's pretty tough there at the moment. I heard your building industry is down 75% affecting our exports and your car industry is down 40%, California is turning into a money pit and jobs are disappearing everywhere. Are you guys okay?

Things are not great here economically but I really worry about the state of the US. You guys are not dispensable.

I got laid off two month ago. Job losses are still mounting, consumer spending is still down and one disaster is still hunting the next one. Not everything is doom and gloom however, there are companies that are hiring, unemployment payments are good and things seem to stabilize The weather is great and I can ride my bicycle around to save on gasoline. The crisis here was caused by greed and greed won't go away.

I feel for you mate. I was laid off years ago when the company I worked for failed to renew the property lease it had held for 10 years because it was shafted by a tenant who it sub-leased to. That was unpleasant but at least there were jobs around at the time. The job market at present is much worse.

Cycling is great isn't it?
I am studying IT full time since July 08 and when my schedule and weather permits, I ride from North Auckland to West Auckland approx 75mins (on my very fast road bike) shower and change then catch a train (or free shuttle bus sometimes) 15mins to Uni. Beats spending money I don't have on petrol.
