@Brix, hope you've got your bookings sorted out, bro... Unless you dig the Taxi To Soweto scenario. Plz remind Trev that he owes the E.C. teachers some moola :-) More moola = P910i

Got to Jozi in one piece...@Kryptik: This time I sorted things out before I left Slaapstad. I'm staying in Midrand, hopefully will get time off to visit Vodaworld before I leave.

Yeah,I've noticed that 2.With my mtn sim inserted is impossible to download any googled pages.
This is true. However, there is another Google service available that works just fine - Type
www.google.com in the URL field (if you get an error message, type
www.google.com/xhtml*).
@ Brix - yes it appears to be only a fancy term to describe just as you've explained. GPRS+ definitely is a better way of using the network resources, although I disagree that all GPRS phones support the higher GPRS+ speeds. I suspect that this relates to the number of timeslots that can be allocated by a handset and not all handsets enjoy increased timeslots - but Sony Ericsson definitely do.
All said and done - I helped a Sony Ericsson user today to connect to Cell C's GPRS platform and interestingly the same hardware set up (Apple iBook and Sony Ericsson S700i) delivered very different speeds on Vodacom and Cell C. His Vodacom SIM showed a visible difference in speed when compared to his Cell C connection, while the Vodacom modem script settings connected at the highest possible settings, and the Cell C connection failed to connect at the maximum speed setting, thus delivered a lower connection. Interesting stuff!

Anyone interested in trying Opera (java) have a look at http://mini.opera.com/tv2/ or, alternatively http://wapamp.com/users/2opera/ @Brix, glad you made it in one piece, bro.

Bored to hell in this hotel room...there's nothing entertaining close-by. @Kryptik: Just checking out that second link for Opera Mini...the first one counts for nought to anyone outside Norway.

Both those links have frustrated the dickens out of me!!! Guess i'll wait and see which more user-friendly links, in English, may emerge...

Nah boet, downloaded that .jar file which took forever and when I finally opened the bugger I got a brief message in Norwegian and then it quit. So there you go... I hope someone from Vodacom is reading this... I'd pay you guys to make Opera Mini available to us in Emzansi

Haven't got a fantastic Voda signal down by GCHM (Gautengers' Christmas Holiday Mecca),a.k.a. Plettenberg Bay.However,I am close to the lagoon & there's bound to be the usual good Voda signal higher up on Plett's undulating layout.
We'll see what Plett cellshops have to offer later 2day after the Adventures of Amawanqa takes us first to Robberg Island this morning, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.
Seems to be a lotta people of teutonic extraction purchasing property here as well..oh hell,my limited command of Deutsch could probably do with some input from Kryptik and sIssIs...
@ kryptik,
Have you ever been to the mouth of the Storms River?(15km from the petroport) If you can convince the nature conservation officer at the entrance to the Tsitsikamma nature reserve that it's not conducive to promoting the place by charging R20 per person just to enter,it's certainly worth visiting for a series of scenic 'happy snaps.'
Also,If any of you ever get to the East Coast resorts NE of East London, check out Inkwenkwezi's restaurant, who pride themselves in home-making the biggest burgers in the southern hemisphere(Wednesdays & weekends),or little further on to Cintsa East, there is a stunning restaurant called Michaela's nestled in the treetops.
If you wanna treat the fairer sex to a really romantic dinner & score some extra brownie points,Michaela's is highly recommended...
Hey EC & WP tourism,I'm doing my bit by giving all these places a plug!LOL!
