Well the better half's

K550 has been switching itself off intermittently over the past few months (it's lasted 3 or 4 years..), which has prompted me to get her an early Christmas pressie... yup, a

X10 Mini. Carphone Warehouse is now selling them for just £149.95 (approx R1600)

. Welcome to the Android Fold; yeah she's beaten me to it, LOL.

Dups!
Lol, you actualy came to mind when i saw the Droid Pro, ye, sucks it's staying in the US, but the Droid2 is coming as the Milestone2 it seems:

Ya, UCWeb can get irritating after quite a bit of useage, it seems there just isnt the "perfect" browser, but im sick of these proxy/server based browsers, the nice thing about them is that all the work/most of it is done on the server so they require less data and CPU cycles and so giving great battery life, the Android browser takes more juice but its so worth it as everything is done on the phone which at times can actualy mean faster page loading, a feature i like in this browser is how it Googles while you type in a web address, you find that you hardly ever finish typing the url as it finds it as you are typing, very nice.
Hobbs
Im getting SO impatient to, hopefuly SE lets us begin the weekend with 2.1.
Wanqs
Congrats to Mrs.Wanqs on her X10mini!

LOL Tsepz, yeah the Nokia N8 is not as outlandishly priced as I thought it might be at launch; one of the largest supermarket chains here already has them for sale at £329.97 (approx R3500) on PAYG. Not too shabby, hey?:

@Tsepz_GP
Yeah, there just is no perfect mobile browser, is there? I love Firefox on my laptop followed by Chrome and am looking forward to trying the mobile Firefox to see how good it is. By the sounds of it the built-in Android browser is something I will enjoy, I don't really mind the battery usage as long as it performs the task well.
Eish, Motorola really pissed me off when they created that phone and decided that Dups! won't be getting his hands on it. I just couldn't believe my bad luck
@wanqs
Nice one for Mrs! The reviews of that little phone are very positive and I'm sure she'll enjoy it. If you decide on the N8 you'll be the only Symbian user on this thread
The green robot has taken over the SAMD thread and I'm next in line.
I hope you guys (Tsepz_GP and Hobbs) get your 2.1 soon cause this is frustrating when other manufacturers are talking 2.2. I know we tend to get impatient a lot of times with these things, not that SE has made things easier for us, but I'd rather have a phone that works near flawless than a buggy one. It seems Froyo is really buggy for Motorola and Samsung while HTC has pushed the upgrade back so maybe it is not such a bad thing that SE is taking its time on Eclair. Even the Galaxy S and Milestone weren't as smooth with Eclair, not too sure 'bout the Desire.

Yo! Wanqs, that's realy good for a Nokia Nseries flagship, far less than the N97 and N900 were.
Dups!

lets hope the Droid Pro is such a success they decide to make a GSM version for the successor. I totaly gave up on ever getting to use a Palm Pre, still realy like WebOS, so much potential wasted by Palm.
Google Chrom is excellent indeed! I use it on my laptop, replaced Opera10 with it a month or so ago.
It seems 2.2 is more buggy than 2.1, apparently 2.3 is on the way to fix those things, maybe SE are working on that for the X10? Wishful thinking

. The Galaxy-S owners seem to enjoy being ripped off, the phone lags, has very poor battery life and a major GPS issue, many have had to resort to installing custom ROMs just to fix the lag. Hopefuly 2.1 for the X10 wont be too buggy.

I hope so, Tsepz_GP. The Droid Pro is a perfect replacement for my P1i. I hope it sells a lot for Moto so we can have the GSM version.
Isn't Firefox available for Android? I'm sure I read somewhere, could be Gsmarena, that it is beta stage. That was a while after they announced it for Maemo/Meego. If I'm correct I intend to give it a test drive when I get my Android phone.

LOL Dups, who would've thought a few years ago that the Symbian Sith Lords would be so diminished in the outer Esato realms and other phone forum haunts, due to this Android Rebellion?
Darth Etaab has sensed a major disturbance in the Symbian Force around these parts, LOL.
@ Hobbster:
She's absolutely loving all the swipe-scrolling, intuitive interface and all the impressive features crammed into this tiny device (and sh!t yes, it is tiny!). She's starting to check out other Android apps now too.
I would advise your boss to try a demo one to see if she's OK with something so tiny (taking into account whatever requirements she may have), but my wife manages fine with it and is very happy with her li'l Mini.
I showed here how to save the battery useage significantly (it was drained in under a day with all the other connections and updates activated) and it's now hugely better, as obviously expected, thanks to these handy hints n' tips (some are bleedin' obvious but it makes a good check-list in the name of saving battery power):

Oh yeah, another thing with the purchase of the X10 Mini.
After the initial long charge, all OK until she needed to charge the phone again the next day due to initially having all the syncs and updates, etc running. She plugged it into the wall charger again and it wouldn't charge at all. Tried rebooting to see if it would help, no luck either. I disconnect the plug-in USB cord from the wall charger and plug it into her Mac to see if it will charge from the computer and see if the fault is with the cable or just the wall charger part, or the phone itself. Hey presto, it charges, which meant that the wall charger part was now faulty/ playing up.
Not impressed, I go back to Carphone Warehouse with receipt and charger and phone in hand. The guy was very helpful and after he saw that it didn't charge from the wall charger now, he went round to the back and brought a brand new, sealed charger and cable. We plugged it in to check and it works. He also lets me keep the original cable, so now she's got 2 USB cables and a working wall charger. great service from CPW by letting us have the original working USB cable and still get another new one too, with the charger.
The original

wall charger that came in the box has the USB cable plug-in on the side, and is smaller. The other new, sealed

wall charger that they gave me is bigger and the USB port for the cable is at the top on this charger. Wonder if there's been any other peeps with issues with the first type of

charger, but whatever, we've scored something out of the hassle. All happy now.
