You have to love

they have not even managed to get the X1 into shops yet and they are already bragging that according to Tech Radar they will be expanding the Xperia range! Do us ALL a favour

deliver what you promise before you go on blabbing about what you will be doing no wonder your net profit is down 97%!!!!
Unless you start building these things to a standard that matches the prices you charge, you will be losing one more customer.
I do NOT want to spend anymore Saturday afternoons reinforcing the backs of phones YOU should do that at the factory or better still make them of non flex metal!!!!!!
Anyway here is the info off tech radar
"Sony Ericsson could be preparing to release more in its high-end Xperia device range, according to a release from Swiss company Esmertec.
"Sony Ericsson has selected Esmertec's Jbed Java Multitasking Virtual Machine to power its revolutionary multimedia Xperia mobile phone range," reads a statement on the site.
This shows the X1 device will just be the first of many from SE when released in September".

Nitro_fan lol that made me chuckle, I remeber the days of the k750i, Now that was a Phone.
97% OMG thats diabolical, Is their something they aren't telling us,
Its does seem the Xperia line is heading toward the title "DOOMED"
I saw this coming, That why I was reserved in my assessment of this device, and concentrated on next gen, Which were literally around the corner, I still do like the design of this phone dont get me wrong, But luck isnt on the side of SE, All members on here should close there eyes and say alittle prayer for SE,
"Please Lord Lead them not into damnation"

X1i i beleive has the MSM7200A and X1a the MSM7201A.
I wonder if the European variant of the Touch pro will have the MSM7200A.
Either way I am not too concerned.
As far from what I have seen even with the latest roms, the Touch Diamond is sluggish, even with 1.93 rom Ive tried it and Im not impressed,
The Iphone 3g is super fast in opening apps,
as far as I understand Opengl ES 1.0 utilisation is very good,
Oh I bet Alexanders' Nvidia chipset will implement Opengl ES2.0

It was just a matter of time. Now since mali-200 has gone fully compliant, Many companies wont have to wait on the bottle neck of conformities in licensing when adopting this platform
regarding the utilisation of opengle ES2.0 in the arm graphical subset, Now the ball will start rolling strong
http://www.design-reuse.com/n[....]hronos-opengl-es-2-0-hdtv.html
As you are well aware the Mali-200 is geared favourably towards the smartphone sector
Subtle changes like this make a big impact in time to market, on the next gen

Boy, this rumour and haterism sprouts like weeds around here.
What is the fate of the Touch Pro since it is essentially the same as the Xperia and hasn't been released yet?
Are they both doomed for failure (X1 & Touch Pro). Or are they both going to be competing top-of-the-line phones until the "better" platforms and phones mentioned actually materialize 6 months from now?

The Touch Pro is just one of a range of capable smartphones by HTC, a revision on the Diamond already released. It's a professional device, but not slavishly "high end" and is likely to be quite attainable as a contract phone and general business workhorse - they haven't tried to plaster it in chrome and suggest it's some kind of super premium device for the uber-rich.
Both the Diamond and the Pro are simply evolutions of their existing handsets (like the Touch and Tytn II) and will be joined in time by various other handsets built around the same and similar WM platforms, and of course by the range of Android devices that HTC have already announced, since they have long since seen the value in diversifying across the smartphone market.
For SE, on the other hand, the X1 is the only basket for their smartphone eggs. Several months after it was announced, it's still the only serious smartphone they've announced any plans of releasing, and it still isn't in the shops. All the indications from the networks are that the Touch Pro will be released
first, probably in August, with guesstimates for the X1 ranging from anytime between October and Christmas (for comparison, HTC's first Android phone may well be out in time for Christmas).

@WhyBe
What in the world is "haterism" as i can't find a definition in any dictionary or is that a word you have just invented?
There isn't any hate for the X1 in fact far from it most people were excited by the prospect of it. But there isn't also just blind faith in SE and that the X1 is going to deliver the best user experience ever either that's called being realistic.
Now if the latest rumors turn out to be accurate and the X1 doesn't launch till December and then only in some markets along with the fact that the software won't be finalised and stable until a couple of months later. That will be a disaster for SE and the X1 or can you just not see that?
No one is going to be happy buying a premium device that needs firmware and won't be stable for a couple of months. Quite simply they will return them and buy something else. Except of course and maybe you and a few others who will just live with it to have an SE.
The reason people's enthusiasm has waned is initially it was reported to launch in the 2nd half of the Year which could of meant as early as June. Which was just 4 months from announcement and at that time it spec's seemed great. This then went out to September which was slightly disappointing but if the X1 launched with all it's features and stable it would of still been fine, if maybe slightly less exciting.
Now if the latest rumors are true and SE know it will launch in December but won't have stable firmware till a couple of months later. That's a disaster most people buy smart phones to work with not look at and there not going to spend that kind of money on a work in progress. They will either buy something that does the job earlier or by Feb-March next year wait a little longer for a better device with newer spec's. SE's and the X1's window of opportunity will have passed of being a big seller with all but some SE fans. Sad but true that's how it works now if you can't see that what can i say.
Marc

@Dogmann
Haterism is hiphop slang. Not a real word but easily understandable
What page of the dictionary do I find relaistic on.
Just kidding.
I can understand some of the points you guys make, but I don't quite agree with the sentiment. By Touch Pro and X1 being spec-leaders, I don't see why any company would cannibalize it's own high-end product by releasing something superior so soon. I can see something being introduced that is newer
and different, but not newer and superior. IOW, the high-end device has to run it's course in the market. Only it's failure (sales wise) would cause it to be replaced so soon. As far as the X1, I see it being a popular device for it's niche group of buyers and it still being in high-demand/high-anticipation. Only die-hard smartphone enthusiasts (you guys, the minority) seem to be soured by
Also, the Touch Pro looks to be similar in price to the X1. Because of the TouchPro frequencies, it appears that it wouldn't be a viable product for AT&T in the U.S. Maybe it'll work better geographically with T-Mobile?
For me, I still think the X1/TouchPro is still top option among smartphones. If a phone that is better spec'd is released at the same time as those 2, then I'll be all over it. So far, that hasn't happened. So these are the only players in town.
