well, if you want to know which one has a good quality camera? simply compare the picture developed or printed. and obviously SE K800i is better.

that's what happened (i.e. printed phots) during M-R survey where participant did not have prior knowledge of which camera took the photo. And the result was 50% chose N73 shots as the best shots whereas only 20% chose K800 as best shots.

I am sorry to say it but many people are very very dumb (didn’t you get my Michael Bay reference earlier??). When taking a survey like that you almost ask for the lowest demeanor. When presented with artificial improved colors people will prefer that picture because they like the colors better.
The colors are improved/enhanced and of course they look better. But a cameras function is to take pictures true to their motive. So you should at least have asked your test persons which picture looked more like the original motive.
Look at this small video:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6237911900014795014
See the model. The last picture of her looks the best in most people’s eyes (otherwise they wouldn’t make it that way) but it does not look anything like the original.
A bit extreme example but needed for the greater understanding.
The N73 does not take better (as in realistic) pictures but prettier pictures. Besides, nobody in their right mind would like a picture to be “enhanced” in the original state. You can always do that in post processing – it is kind of difficult to reverse on N73
When we did OUR comparing of the N73 and K800 we did it with a real digital camera and the test was to see what phone comes closest to the digital camera. The K800 did but the N73 pictures had far more colors than digital camera had. That is just plain wrong but the average Joe probably think it equals a good camera.

Yeah, most people are really DUMB to prefer the more pleasing/'prettier' picture (as you called it)...

No DUMB when confusing the terms better and prettier. See how it is spelled differently?
But come on. When it comes to technology most people ARE dumb as hell. Just look at computers – Microsoft had to include a Security Center in SP2 simply to tell people that they will get virus without antivirus software. Kind of stating the obvious? Apparently not…

can anyone actually gives link to the free applications for S60.. since u guys mention that "there are lots of appl out there"... its easy to mention, but hard to do. I find that you really has to dig down very deeply on forums, not really on websites, otherwise it will be as simple as you go to google and type the applications. Otherwise, if you guys cannot give the link, then it is clear enough.. N73 is not worth to get (since you have to pay for more functions from it).

.. simple and easy.
Discussing about the picture quality.. N73 indeed takes a sharper picture and i found that the quality of the camera on K800 is a bit like K750 but larger. Prettier and better... hm.. interesting term. smart. To be honest.. it is like painting, if you make it prettier, then ppl won't bother whether it is close to the original or not. The closer it is to the original does not really mean that ppl will like it. The colour balance i think K800 is closer to digicam, but the image sharpness is definitely not.

Most reviews point N73 as the better cam. It has less noise and the colors are more vivid not to mention that n73 captures video while k800 captures blur-in-motion.
sesukaku,
i´ll pm you with some links for free symbian apps ( i cant put links here)

Have you actually owned both phones?
In the last year i have had the k800/n73 and n93. N73 is ok and as good as the k800 in daytime but so slow in taking pics.
Get into low light, and forget about the N73 and n93 for that matter k800 wins with one hand here thanks to the xenon flash.
With video yes the n73 does better as its CIF but even then if you ever owend a n90/n70 or n91 well that i what CIF video is suppposed to look like.
What nokia have done to the CIF video in the n73 and n80 is beyond comprehension.
And to be honest i wouldnt go for a phone which gived purple fog all around the picture in low lighting. Unless i was making a spooy film in a graveyard. lol
The k800 is really aimed more at imaging where as the n73 is an all rounder and this is only because of symbian. However most Nokia fans just brag about the potnetial of symbian when in reality they probabaly dont use any applications.
Also in terms of conveting videos for your viewing pleasure well the k800 is always going to win here.
The k800 is also cheaper and by far the definitive choice.
If you want to just go by reviews well check out mobile review where they say the k800 will be the best and unrivalled imaging device suprassed only by the LG 5mp (which still falls to the k800 in low low lighting).
Or check the .nl phone test which i posted in this thread earlier where the n73 was probabaly the worst i had seen.
I admit i liked the n73 when i had it but the following things bugged me.
- crappy video not how cif should look
- crappy codecs for ripping dvds to mobile
- not multimedia freindly enough ( eg: k800 has dedicated buttons for going right to gallery or music player as well as the ability to show your video caller your gallery whilst on a video call)
- joystick felt uneasy and very unstable
The best thing about the n73 is the screen size but thats about it really.

H m m m . . . I may be wrong dude, but by the way I understand your language is that you HAD the K800, Nokia N73 and N93 . . . in the last year, pertaining to 2005

But I guess these 3 fones were NOT yet OUT in the market . . . last year

Isnt what is good (or bad) is up to us HUMAN BEING to judge. You seems to be suggesting that HUMAN like us are not capable of doing that. Are you suggesting we leave it to ET to do it? The length someone (ET??

) goes thru to defend the K800.

So? It is still light years ahead of K800.

You have no idea what we use or dont use in Symbian. So stop making a fool of yourself.

N73 is the better camera according to M-R survey. So?

From this inconsistent statement, let me ask you. Are you really sure you owned a N73 before?
