I've got a /8 (Singapore) version of the phone. When I got it, I originally updated with the HK firmware and had Traditional Chinese on it.

So I did the update on Feb 15th and chose the same region (Chinese - Hong Kong) but now I have Simplified Chinese on it! Help!! Does anyone know how I can get Traditional back on my phone??

Thanks

Delete all previous back-ups or at least move them from the same folder on your HD then try again.

When i have this problem there are two things i can do: -

1) Delete your previous backups (i have posted before how to save them just in case)

2) When the 1st backup fails, perform the backup again imediately after without restarting the phone or software. While the phone is in the backup mode, it will allow another session to begin and it should complete successfuly.

Regards

I also experience a lot less problems than most posters here do. And my use of the p990 revolve around the use of the media player, the camera, opera mini with wifi, pdf reader, and gmail. I've never felt the urge to install any other programs unnecessarily. I've always felt that the more programs you install, the more 'impure' your os becomes, the more problems you get.
On another note, a very quick and easy way of backing up your address book and calendar is to select all and bluetooth it to a fellow SE user. But note that after u beam it back to yourself, you lose all the folder categorisation.

Has many people know, i never had much problems with my P990, but i do have lots of stuff installed, both java and symbian, and test everything i see...the only think i avoid is instaling apps on the phone memory, all goes to the ms pro

But, has Doggman, my main backup "tool" is actually outlook, i never used SE´s backup programa for anything besides some settings, and always performed format internal drive after updates.

@makbil: i tried your hint - the problem is, that it works = the restore of backup data destroys the dataarea of the radio - bad if we can backup but are not going to be able to restore what we saved!!!!

@derton: You should format the internal disk, do a master reset and do a fw update. Seems like you have a problem with the OS. Almost all of my problems with FM radio disappeared with the Jan. 2 update.

So is everyone saying that their video syncs up with the audio perfectly then? Because I have always done a master reset, format internal disk, and never restored backups after a firmware update. I have tried using different memory cards and even recording to phone memory. So if anyone has it working correctly, please do tell how you did it.

Ares, it's worth noting that although we do some things differently, as I remember our P990s behave pretty much the same way - I install all applications that do not require too much space to my phone memory, I do a "unified box" restore only. The common thing is format+master reset that we do. Currently the only serious problem I have is intermittently with WLAN. Daily functions are working fine, I just want some functional improvements. I only SMP and TP. The only programs I really miss are Agendus that I had for my P900 and Shopping Bee
On another note, a friend of mine bought a P990, after using for a week decided to return it and go for Samsung 750i. She said that it was just too difficult to use, her comment was, the P990 is designed for use by an engineer She does seem to have a point, me thinks

I think I know why they had to rush out a quick bug fix.

In R4A13 the T9 text input in SMS was SLOOOOW! We're talking about T29 and T65 speeds here. Fixed in R4B03.

Also my R4A13 would keep dropping calls shortly after they were connected. Seems to be fixed.

The one bug that wasn't fixed in R4A03 concerns the HPM-82. If the headset is accidentally disconnected while the Media player is running (or even in memory), the buttons on the remote will stop working when you reconnect the headset. The only way out is to reboot the phone.
I know the P990 was on the HPM-82's compatible devices list at first but then quietly dropped, but it still baffles me why they can't fix something this simple... To be tested later in the day.

P.S. I think everyone who encounters a problem should at least try what so many users have suggested here: at least do a Format internal disk BEFORE you upgrade and format again AFTER upgrading, before you restore your backups.
Also, close as many applications on your PC as you can, including software firewalls, which are known to screw up these kinds of things.
