@ tyko - its not so much about crushing the competition now, its the fact it does it against each othe companies flagships. Thats how strong the brand and its technology is.
Which is why HTC have to release + versions of the same phones from earlier in the year to compete. Sony, well they have to release entirely new phones because their first flagships are usually underpowered and rather poor - ala Xperia Z.

Well if rumors are true, sony is releasing a S800 based phone in q3 with some extra goodies and also LG I read somewhere, samsung will have to release a +version to keep up with regards to benchmarks. I think its those phones S4 should be compared to, not the existing flagships, especially xperia z (theres no contest there) Speaking for my self, im more interested in the extra goodies which would be the rumored camera in the sony and better battery for instance, not the extra gain in points in antutu or whatever benchmark the S800 brings. Point is, will the s4 still be considered as the best phone in 3-4 months? If s800 phones and tegra 4 phones are coming relatively soon I would imagen the s4 is in trouble, specwise anyway.

No, not at all. Look at the past three years for example.
Regardless of rumours, CES and MWC, the two main tradeshows that exhibit the new products and technology are there for companies to show just what they're capable of. The whole industry tends to revolve around releasing their best efforts at that time of the year. Two years ago we had the HTC Sensation vs the S2, in 2012 we had the HTC One X vs the S3. Now in 2013 we have the competitors vs the S4.
Again, its only the competitors that feel the need to refresh their phones or release more than one flagship per year. Will the S4 be considered the best phone in 6 months ? i'd say yes, by a far margin. The competition simply do not have a clue, whilst Samsung know what they're doing. They're not afraid of HTC, Sony or LG, because those companies cant bring the same strong products to the market.
Sure the S4's Octa core Exynos will be quickly beaten, but thats how its always been in the PC gaming scene. It doesnt mean your PC is overnight made obsolete and neither will it matter regarding the S4.
Last year, my S3 was surpassed within two months regarding CPU horsepower. But it doesnt matter beause its the whole package that matters. IMO the S3 still feels as fresh now as it did on day one of purchase on 30th May 2012.
Will the S4 be in trouble ? no, its a safe bet imo looking at how poor the overall package the competition will be delivering to the market.

And to add to Etaab's point, one reason the S3 still feels fresh is the constant updates it's given by Samsung. 4.2.2 is all but confirmed for the S3 when certain manufacturers 2012 flagships haven't even been updated to 4.1 yet.

I agree, its a great overall package that will be hard to beat. Thats why I reacted to the S4 crushes everything benchmark wise. It will be beaten soon in that area, pointless to claim victory just because its a tad bit better in some benchmarks. If I would buy a phone now it would be the S4 or the padfone infinity which seems really good in all areas as well.

Samsung phones do more than Nexus phones. They have better everything. Like someone else said, Samsung actually beat Google with their own software.
I dont know the facts, but id guess Samsung are the ones who've invested more in their phones and Android than any other manufacturer. Its a no brainer as to why they're better.
The reason i like Samsung Android phones over other companies is because for years i used Symbian. Only Samsung phones with Touchwhiz and Samsung's own apps actually fill the gaps Android has that Symbian did not. As ive said a million times, Samsung phones have the least things to sacrifice when moving from another OS. My S3 was my first Android phone and im happy with it. If i were to walk out and buy a Xperia Z, i'd probably wish i was still using my Nokia N8 as my main phone.
With Samsung you sacrifice less. Its simple functionality rather than post metal bodies or water proofing. Or being an "i" device.

@General Samsung trolls spewing out idiotic comments infested with blatant hypocrisy.
All modified versions of vanilla android do more than vanilla android, so nothing special there.
Phones with amoled displays cannot feel as fresh as they did on day of purchase, unless you modded them on the day of purchase to purposely display whites with an insanely stupid blue hue.
An N8 has more over the sgs3s than it does over the Z.
Over the sgs3s: better design, better build quality, more realistic display (though this point is admittedly a negative if you use your phone primarily for watching cartoons).
Over the Z: none of the above.
The competition DO know what they are doing. HTC admittedly don't with a smaller screen in a 5" phone size, a poor camera and no microSD card; but Sony with a better build quality, better design of both the phone and the UI (unless you prefer a childish design), better display (unless you use your phone for mainly watching cartoons), water/dust resistance (which is by far the easiest way to sell a flagship today - a friend was deciding between the One, Z and sgs3s, I said only one of those you could use care-free in the rain [an important point in London], and he went for the Z), and a more mature company to support (one that doesn't rely heavily on stealing ideas and blatantly copying, messing around in courts throughout the world, and renaming Android beam. THEY ACTUALLY RENAMED IT TO GIVE THE IMPRESSION IT'S EXCLUSIVE AND DIFFERENT).
I used to say Samsung fans are only second to Apple fans in stupidity.
I was wrong. Right once upon a time, but now I'm wrong.
The reality?
Apple fans are only second to Samsung fans in stupidity.
