Ladies and Gentlemen,
It's ROOTED

Link text...

It is a touch too complicated for smooth sailing. I will wait until it is made idiot-proof

Ok, After a quick 5 day review that I had done a few pages back...Here are my thoughts of the Xperia Z Ultra HSPA+ Version after 15 days of real world usage.

Pros:
- Pocketnow is crazy. This screen is simply fantastic resolution wise. Unmatched.
- The waterproofing is solid, has been tested in the heavy Mumbai Monsoon downpour.
- Multi tasking is fantastic. Highly productive
- Beautiful device
- Fantastic STANDBY battery life on Stamina mode

Cons:
- The Pre-installed screen protector (which is hardly visible to the naked eye) sucks. With hardly any abrasive use it has already developed 2 very visible scratches on its surface which is annoying. It presumably happened when I happened to keep the phone together with a regular plastic/metallic pen in my trouser pocket for a couple of hours.

This has made me cautious and now I do not feel like using a sharp tipped object on the screen as a stylus, for fear of more scratches. And I am not sure if i should apply a screen protector over the pre-existing screen protector.

- The Screen can be very iffy when wet or greasy. The Super sensitive screen behaves weirdly when there is even slight dampness on the screen or even if you have used a lightly greasy finger on it (such as a sweaty finger or a slightly post-french fries oily one) It doesn't respond well, and automatic accidental touches get registered at the point of greasiness. For example, if I have used a damp or greasy finger on the top of the screen on the back button of the browser, the grease itself triggers a continuous response even though the finger is no longer in contact with the screen, and the back button keeps clicking till it reaches the first page of the browser or till you have wiped off the dampness or greasiness with a cloth. And since the touch is being registered the rest of the screen does not respond if you touch another point on the screen. Occasional but Extremely annoying.
Solution: Use a dry finger or wipe the screen nicely before use.

- The Camera Crashes if you change the modes quickly.. going bad and forth from Normal mode to superior auto mode the camera app crashes and becomes unresponsive.
Solution: Exit Camera app and restart it

- Battery Life: Real world battery life on stamina mode is good with moderate use. After a full day work I reach home with 20-30 % battery life left. About 10 phone calls, multiple text and whatsapp messages, one hour of music while travelling, searching on the internet, checking facebook, clicking photos etc.. But if you use the screen prolonged, like gaming, watching videos, constantly surfing internet, it drains very very rapidly. Battery life is very much like a smartphone only. Does not feel like a tablet at all. If they meant this to be used as a tablet - The battery sucks. You need to have an eye on the battery at all times and optimize the usage.

The above bugs are not deal breakers for me as it is a fantastic device and has increased my productivity. After a couple of days use the size is just perfect.. It's portable and two handed use gets ingrained into you at a subconscious level so it no longer feels awkward anymore.

Thanks once again Oogamous.

The greasy fingerprints on the screen sounds like a bit of an issue. I took the screen protector of on my Xperia T which made it somewhat better, however, I'd be very careful about doing it on the ZU because the Sony logo might come off with it.

If not, then applying a better quality screen protector might be the answer.

As for the Pocketnow review, well we'll say no more about that, I think the comments say it all

Check out this guys YouTube channel, he's got a bunch of game tests for the Z Ultra. And as expected, everything worked perfectly smooth.
