They said end of October from the start, then it was reported soon after the 17th October to bring the phone out sooner to ensure the iP6+ doesn't get a chunk of the sales.
Top quality again from Samsung. Nothing but brilliant reviews about the phone, battery and camera, which matters most to me - not stereo speakers, a fragile glass design or silly and unnecessary waterproofing.
I really cannot wait to get the phone, im literally counting the days down till next Friday when mine arrives. Ive never owned an OIS equipped device before so im looking forward to taking some cool night shots near to the motorway where I live. Im attending a family wedding next weekend so will be picking mine up in a rush to the venue where im staying overnight. So hopefully, I will get some cool photo opportunities to test the camera out.
Lastly, after reading the reviews, we see once again the gap between Samsung's phones and Apple's. We see the gaps between the Android manufacturers. I understand the S5 looked less of a stand out device compared to HTC, Sony & LG's 2014 flagship efforts as they catch up terms of specs and features. So its nice to see the Note 4 gain good reviews which elevate it higher than what anyone else appears capable of.

Actually when I placed the pre order at Samsung store that said the 9th of October and only later on they called and said it was pushed back by a week

Unless I am reading the screen test results wrong on GSM arena it seem that the Note 4 is brighter than the Note 3 but not as bright as the Galaxy S5. Interesting.

Samsung camera finally with an OIS will be awesome as they are always sharp images before. I don't agree about Sony glass design being fragile because seeing the Z2 drop test both front and back never shattered. Anyway it would be cool someday if Samsung would do long exposure settings like Nokia does

Hopefully with updated API's for camera we'll start getting more control over the picture and native support for RAW shooting. That would be awesome
And I wouldn't call waterproofing silly and unnecessary, you appreciate it when you have it and after that it's hard to imagine not having it in any other phone
Samsung knows it very well, that is why they decided to include it in S5 but not in Note 4 due to different target group

The only things I hate about waterproofing is those pesky flaps and any membrane on the speakers tends to muffle them a little. Like the Galaxy S5 the back speaker is more muted and also tends to vibrate the chassis a bit too

I have to agree with that. Flaps on all ports are frustrating but thankfully with Sony you can use magnetic dock connector and with Samsung Qi charging cover.
But the membrane in front of the speaker is irritating but it's the price of waterproofness (probably one of the arguments that made HTC skip it in M8).

Waterproofing also makes the phones thicker and takes away from the looks of the phone.

S5 would be another example of slim waterproof device but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and I won't discuss the looks of S5
Xperia Z Ultra on the other hand is probably the slimmest at 6.5mm
It's not the best topic to discuss the necessity of making phones waterproof and if it makes them fat and ugly so I'll stop it at that. I expressed my view on this subject.
