You referring to this? It's not about the end of xperia. The article stated they kind of remove pro series and 5 series due to this announced equipment.

Plus I think sony is silently withdrawing from china because of not great to trade and profit there anymore.

When things got bad in 2018, i did not believe they would quit. But now I am not that confident we will be seeing xperia for much longer. All these cuts seem to me final attempt to turn things around to recover some money.

That's called future proofing for the next 1440 display
I haven't upgraded to A14 and I will not do so but I think screen shots come out in 1080p+ size and not 1440p

I wonder why anyone would buy Mark 6 over Mark 5.
1) cannot watch 4K vids anymore.
2) cannot watch 21:9 without black bars
3) probably heavier due to new wider size
4) probably same combo 888 + 563 + 650
5) info leaked price in HK is same of mark 5.
Better wait mark 7, if they device to keep making phones.

Could have better battery life and longer software support. Could fit bigger battery maybe. Sound could be improved too if the speakers get bigger or have more room. Brighter display. Bigger display real estate. Even with black bars 21:9 area is almost the same. Plus the proportions of the device is more balanced.
I mean it's not all about pixels. Same goes for the camera, it could deliver significantly different outputs with the same hw
