Soldier Ants shouldn't use a lot of bandwidth, if you're interested I could work out how much data is sent in a single game. Then you will know how expensive it would be.

Hi,

I have a pretty good beta candidate ready, so I should be releasing a version with bluetooth support very soon.

A single game with two teams will send around 250k of data in total. If you have one team on each phone that is around 125k each. I could reduce that quite a lot if it was a problem, with bluetooth it doesn't matter of course because it is free.

Heres a beta version of BlueTooth enabled Soldier Ants...

http://www.btinternet.com/~mc[....]s/Download/SoldierAntsBeta.zip

On one phone host a bluetooth game, setup your game switching any player teams you want on the other phone to bluetooth teams. Then tap play and wait for someone to join.

On the other phone select joing a bluetooth game and choose the handset you wish to connect to, then wait. If the connection fails, just try again.

Cheers,

Tom

250 k per game is acceptable for me, but for some of us gprs is really expensive. So for them it might be too much. But I can live with that, imagine how cool it is to play soldier ants against another person in another part of the world on your PxXX.

Wow playing the game over GPRS would really be cool Tom. The ptoblem with Bluetooth is that you need to have somebody with similar game within a certain bluetooth distance but there will be no limit if we can play it over GPRS. I for one would not mind paying extra just to get this extra function. Thanks for the good work Tom, maybe I should have a look at your other games:-)

Hello guys, I just wantet to ask if soldier ant can be downloaded fom the same phone? Without using the computer. Because last night I got the full Soldier Ant version and click on download from the phone. But at the end when it started saving the file to the phone everything was working ok. When it finish it said that it was saved externally, but the game doesnt show up on the screen. Also i could see the file when i check the storage manager is located on the memory stick document. Do I need to do something to be able to play it?

The link still works for me. You have to click on it though, copying and pasting wont work as the URL is truncated to make it more readable. If you drop me an email I'll send you the SIS file over the weekend.

If you download the game straight to your phone then (i think) you will be sent a .SIS file. If you run that file on the phone it will install the game for you. Or, from the application list tap Applications then Install and select it from the list.

I've only ever installed apps from my PC or by bluetoothing them over but that should work for you.

Cheers,

Tom
