nokia phones are less expensive because of the sheer volume, they can buy in the raw materials at cheaper prices then
Nokia are a bigger company, they can stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap.
does not have this luxury, however. It goes to show, however, that nokia phones really are not that great, yes they are paying less for the materials, but they are whacking huge profit on top of that, proven by the fact they are starting to discount very heavily on their handsets and stil turning a profit. Nokia handsets are cheaper because the majority just arent as good.

i also read that Dell decided not to enter mobile market is partly due to Nokia production and supply chain efficiency. so do u know whether the the money u pay for se phone goes to better phone or just wasted in the production/sale cycle??

don't forget SE is very young and a year+ ago, it is making loss and nearly close shop. so the question is not so much of long term but whether SE can prosper when Nokia is fighting back with everything they have (price cuts, many models, more cost cutting - Nokia profit was not affected by their recent prices cuts.)

Where did you read this about Dell? Link please. I never heard anything about Dell even considering entering the mobile phone market. I would be interested to read on this. If they were considering it, im sure its not because of Nokia's buying of raw materials they decided not to bother, more likely because there are so many moobile manufacturers at present, and most people have chosen the brand of phone they prefer.

all phones companys have/will continue to do this including se.
in fact even business outside of phones do it none more so than in the world of tv
were the slightest upgrade brings a new model out ie its got 1 extra scart etc
also business are out to make money even se the s700 is a great example of them trying to make big money. take an exisiting phone put a european case on it and sell it for more than any other phone in there range. pure profit however i have no problem with this what so ever as this is how business works
if you dont like the product dont buy it

can u substantiate ur statement that how nokia "lost impetus technologically". i think this is just same old rhetoric i read many times here. u hv not read (or chose to ignore) all my points.
i hv been reading here that SE is technologically advance than nokia. the most impactful point i got is that SE supports a higher resolution screen.

You always repeating the same thing over and over by saying that we don't have good points why SE is ahead Nokia in terms of technology. I think some people in here have said good points why just Nokia is behind Sony Ericsson. It is not my problem you can't accept the fact that your lovely Nokia isn't what it used to be. They were a leading mobile company in every aspects, so was Ericsson when they could buy the whole Nokia mobile part for a silly amount of money but not anymore.

i buy my phones based on the features that are important to me not by brand.
i do stick to the main companys se, nokia etc just cause of the support large companies offer all over the globe.
i get the impression a lot of people in this thread by phones by brands. probably matching model to the features they require.
so the question is if se was in nokias position ie the no1 supplier/ seller of handsets how many would still buy them.
what i am getting it at is there seems to be a current of se been the underdog and cause not many use them i like them more also that se seem to be in someways more in touch with the people who by there phones and beleive they listen to you.
this is pure couriousty on my part
