@CheekyRic

You are more than welcome.

I have used them in the pass, just make sure that you choose files to update the phone.

Other wise the phone will not start up.

I beleive the unlock code from hem is not a normal credit, I have read that its in the range of 30-40 pound. (Not sure tho)

T-Mobile will allow you to unlock for 20£

Final question - I promise(!)

Which firmware do I need?

Is there a website for me to find this out as I don't want to destroy my phone before I've used it? On Total Multi Server, I have the following options to choose from:

R1CB001_RED_CID49
R1ED001_RED_CID49

Thanks again....for now!

You are more than welcome and ask away, This is the place for questions and answers

Any way

R1ED001_RED_CID49 is the newest version you have listed but not the newest verson of firmware.

A New firmware was recently released for the K800i

R1GB001

However before you do any thing with the phone make sure that you check which version of EROM you have.

The version the phones should be shipped with is R3A016

The EROM is the Bios of the phone, This revison stops the white screening of the phone. The earlier version have the WSOD problems, however updating the firmware doesnt always like the old firmware of the phone. So be careful

Any more let me know

Just to note.

Erom is only updateable at SE Service Centers and Wotanserver.

SEUS Will not update EROM.

SE are still working on this and hopefull will have a fullty functioning system some time this year.

To update the EROM you just dont press the C button.

Any more let me know.

Sorry to seem inpatient guys but has anyone experienced this issue, have updated my brothers K800i as well and it seems to have the same issue.

I updated both phones using Wotanserver.

Any help appreciated.

Next time i post here immediately after upload but i was little bit busy in past days. We just uploaded to wotanserver following firmwares

SonyEricsson K800 R1GB001 MR2.1
SonyEricsson K790 R1GB001 MR2.1

To see what languages are available just go to wotanserver.com , choose K800 or K790 phone and click on the R1GB001 firmware and list of CDA and available languages will show up.

P.S.: MR stays for Master Release ;D

I just updated my K800i to the latest firmware with WotanServer. I did not check the "Disable Play Now" button.

However, now where the Play Now button was is a generic Sony Ericsson icon labelled "wap.o2.co.uk".

Even if I switch the SIM card for another network (eg. Virgin), the text "wap.o2.co.uk" appears above the icon.

How do I change this? I didn't ask for Wotan to change the Play Now button.

Is it a bug in Wotan, or did I do something wrong?

Its a bug in the Wotan Client. I've already mentioned about it a few pages back in this thread.

Below is my ongoing conversation with Wotan support called David

Hi
I've just updated my friends already generic K800i to R1EG001 and the Play Now icon has been replaced with a web link to the operators homepage.
The K800 icon menu is now the same as that of a branded phone and my friend is not happy at all as he uses the Play Now feature.
This is a VERY BIG letdown of Wotanserver and I feel extremly dissappointed in the service which I've payed money for.
There should have been an option in the wotan client to remove the Play Now icon/service or not to remove it.

As a result. My friend is now very unhappy with me because of what has happened to his phone and I want Wotanserver to inform me of how they will rectify the matter as I feel it is their fault this has happened.

Regards

Andy

hi

There is an option in the client to tick the box to 'Disable Play Now' if you did not want this removed it was upto you to remove this, the customer has full control over it, this is why we made it like this as some customers still want to keep the play now button.

In the Wotan client there is a checkbox with the title "Disable Play Now". The option WAS NOT selected. Therefore. The Play Now feature shouldn't have been disabled in the phone.

I have tried this twice now and have the same results (at a total cost to me of £10)

By the description in your reply.
If I wanted to keep the Play Now feature. I should have put a tick in the "Disable Play Now" option in the Wontan Client.

Is this correct ?

Surely it should be the other way round where if the "Disable Play Now" option is selected then the software in the Wotan client would remove the Play Now feature.

Please advise on how I can get the Play Now feature back onto the phone. I do not wish to pay anymore money out for something that is not going to work properly as I feel that enough has been payed to Wotan for something that has not been completed properly.

Regards

Andy

Thank you.

If possible could you please inform me via email when the new client is available and when the credit has been placed onto my account ?
This is so I can finish the phone quickly and be back in my friends good books again.

hanugro, yes, its R3A011. what is the point of different eprom versions?

Here is the answer from one of Davinci Team:

---------

In SE phones, I believe EROM actually means Extended ROM. This is the base part of the software which isn't flashed in normal update operations. It controls the flashing interface, the boot loader, etc.

Updating to the latest EROM is usually recommended, as there can be bugs in early versions, as we've seen on the DB2020 phones. However, these are rarely updated.

Blinking red LED is often caused by a corrupt EROM, but can just as well mean you have too little power in your battery for LCD operations.

--------

I guess the R3A011 can have WSOD so just make sure you never let the phone batt to be empty while using it.

Edit: Also look at page 138-139 in this thread for more explanation of EROM problem in K800i
