UK users will find a new firmware update available for their arc. Tried updating mine and it did not update correctly, stopped midway in the update process, and screwed up my handset. My handset now does not switch on at all! Tried updating several times to no success and today posted it to the Sony Ericsson repair center. Very disappointed with the update glitches as many people are facing the same http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]mware-update-hits-uk-handsets/

My Arc is suffering from battery drain problem. Some people said removing Google Maps update helps, how the hell do I remove it? No, how can I even update it? When I checked market.android.com, the latest version was 5.3.1 and I have 5.0.0 on my device. So, it is not even up to date. It is not there in the android market and when I open it, I can use it just fine.

By the way, I keep Bluetooth/Bravia Engine/data transfer/Wi-Fi..etc turned off. I also deleted some apps. I will try and see if anything happens. From what I have seen, the users either have excellent battery life or terrible battery life even with the battery drainers are turned off. Strange.

Anyone notice that the timescape widget it buggy as hell.

I've had a few forced closes already. Might have to remove it. Pity really because I liked the one on the x10.

In regards to the people complaining about battery life.

Just normally using up the battery and fully charging it (been almost a week since I got it).

Anyways, I use ATK and I turned off bravia and my 3g is on. Fully charged when I went to work. Made a few calls, facebook, gmail and used the cam. Surfed a little, downloaded a couple of apps.

Back home now after 12 hours and my battery is sitting at 83%.

I think that is very good battery life!

It's not about the phone...it is just you...

Bonovox, I've got 2 arcs here and neither of them have an issue with feeling flimsy or squeaking. I can make them squeak if I try hard enough, but definitely not in normal use. I've owned a lot of phones in my time, and the build feels quite solid to me.

I can only assume there was an issue with your device, and thought this info might help with your decision to try again with the arc.
