i think that the z1 which has the good screen and the good lens, is the most awesome smartphone in history.

How to zoom the Flick photos?
From the overview it looks like a tie... Sometimes 1020 is greater and sometimes the opposite.

Gotta, say, the Z1 comes out looking very good from that comparison.
I'd definitely give the edge to the 1020 on video, but on stills, there's not much in it.

Got some good news on my end. Clove is willing to cover the cost of shipping a replacement for me and shipping the Z1 back to the UK is only $20 when I ship Fedex International Priority through my company. Let's hope I get one without a faulty camera again. In the meantime, going to enjoy my Z1 for this final weekend and back it goes.
@moogoo May you please remove any image on your flickr account they may have a possible right side blur? May use your images as an example for my story to Clove.

Wow Danny choo's photos look great but they're all resized.. I wish we could see originals and know the settings for each..
EDIT: funny. i was looking at danny's photos on my Z1 and they look 10 times better than on my macbook pro (not retina).
The 1020 v. Z1 shootout .. i didn't look at each pic in detail, but it's a draw as far as color/dynamic range for me. Z1 wins some, Z1 loses some. But VIDEO.. the difference in sound quality is night and day. Z1 has GREAT sound quality (i haven't even tested video yet). 1020's sounds a bit muffled. And even without OIS, I thought the Z1's video was smoother. Of course, 1020 lovers and sony haters alike will probably say otherwise.. to each their own
@mnx sure..I'll get rid of my test set. glad you have some good news! i need to do some more testing to figure out if i even have an issue. that's next week I guess.
@doministry - click on a photo, then right click and choose original size.
NOTE ON BATTERY.
so, when I got my Z1 yesterday, before turning it on, I charged it via USB to my laptop until 100%. I used it all day doing this, that and whatever. and after about 14 hours of heavy use and screen brightness at 100% for a lot of it, I was down to 2% so I plugged it back in. After about 5 hours of charging on USB to laptop again, it's only at 80%. Granted, I know charging from USB is never as fast as from a wall socket, but i wasn't expecting it to take this long. ha. I guess this battery is just THAT big. I'll have to try a wall socket next time to compare.

Local blogger got hold of a Z1 for a review (it's not yet officially available here). See how high he got from Antutu, making me wonder why reviews from popular tech sites only show an Antutu score of around 30K.

Z1's electronic stabilisation is on in that video. and it is good. It does, however, crop out quite a lot of the frame.

@dalmac - yea. no doubt there is a lot of cropping going on with the Z1 as opposed to the 1020. and just from overall view (didn't fullscreen).. 1020 seems to record a bit better video quality as far as clarity and detail, which becomes more apparent in low light. though it was having trouble focusing, where Z1 didn't.
Both produce great videos for phones!
