@CELL-P I very much doubt it's Google Maps causing your battery issue. It's more likely to be a widget such as timescape widget trying to update too often or just the battery isn't worn-in enough, try full charge cycles and experimenting with your settings and widgets.

To update your maps try searching for Google Maps in the market (NOT the 'My Apps' link) it should come up. It could be that it doesn't appear in 'My Apps' because it's not been associated in the market. This can happen to any appication if it's installed through any way other than through the market. Simply finding it in the market and installing from there links the app to 'My Apps' and so you can be informed of future updates automatically.

What is the size of contact picture to fit the full screen when calling/receiving call in Xperia Arc?

The battery level part of the settings should also tell you if any widget is consuming more power than normal.

Watch news/weather widgets that update very often. You'll find that you can change the interval for updates which will save the battery. Unfortunately some apps don't have this, I think Sky News app was draining my battery big time - so I uninstalled it!

Had my Arc now for 2 weeks, my battery life is fine as long as I keep the screen brightness at around 1/3 of maximum. Gets me through a full day of calls, emails and plenty of messages as well as some music and games.
Think the Timescape might be a major drain. Since I have stoped using it battery life has improved!

Its a great phone and I still enjoy looking at it everyday . Only problem I do have is that the Qwerty is not the best, think I need to download a different one... after two weeks still not used to it.

Anybody any good suggestions for Arc? Don't mind paying....

For all those who want to debrand the Arc...

But I don't know if this will let you unlock the bootloader...

oooh I can upgrade early and get the Arc at a cost of £30 £30 month contract, 600mins, unlimited txts and 500MB of mobile internet and webmail which is better than my current £25 month contract as I only get 300mins & unlimited txt, not that I actually use all if any of my mins a month

Now if the lady will let her man splash out £30 rather than wait 2months hehehe

I upgraded today from my £25 plan a month early to a £20 a month plan with 600 mins unlimited txts 500mb internet and a FREE Xperia Arc

Try calling your provider and scaring them by telling them you are going to leave them they will ask why and you
just say the upgrade deals I saw on your website were not as good as the ones offered by other companies... it worked with Orange straight away the guy said "nonono I can get you a much better deal than the one on the site because you have been with us for so long "18months"...

I saved more than £240 on my monthly payments and £120 on the phone which I will receive for free on Tuesday.

Sadly, unlocking the bootloader is a one-way process... and if you want to do updates you have to use FlashTool; SEUS won't work on unlocked bootloaders...
