@dalmac - yea. no doubt there is a lot of cropping going on with the Z1 as opposed to the 1020. and just from overall view (didn't fullscreen).. 1020 seems to record a bit better video quality as far as clarity and detail, which becomes more apparent in low light. though it was having trouble focusing, where Z1 didn't.
Both produce great videos for phones!
100% agree. Both very good.

P.S.
In general GSMArena chart test starts to look suspicious for me.

A request to everyone posting Z1 camera samples.
1. Kindly upload the pictures to Flickr or some other image host that allows uploading of full size photos. Google+ doesn't work for a lot of people, so avoid G+. please
2. Avoid Superior Auto Mode, instead choose 8 MP Manual Mode.

^why request #2?
a lot of people admittedly aren't photographers.. so superior auto is their best bet.
By the way.. I ordered a full body Illumishield kit. I chose to go with the Illumishield vs. others because it advertised not only scratch resistant protection, but ANTI-Fingerprint as well. In addition, it says it's ultra clear, so it shouldn't effect viewing. PLUS.. it was only $12 US for the full kit and shipping on amazon, where other full body kits were much more and didn't (at least didn't advertise) have fingerprint proof coating.
I'll give a full review of it once I get it for those interested. Hopefully, it will eliminate those ugly fingerprint marks on my beautiful Z1!

No need to adjust any settings, just use Manual and not Superior Auto. Superior Auto seems to deliver worse results most of the times compared to Manual Mode.
I believe Superior Auto prioritizes smaller file size over quality. Mostly for sharing on Facebook etc and NOT for pixel peeping.

alright.
does anybody know where the setting is to keep the screen ON while plugged in? is that the new "daydream" mode? i just want it to stay on but auto-dim when it's plugged in so i don't have to unlock it every time i get a text..

For those who are interested in putting on a screen protector over the shatter proof film, but worry that it may reduce touch sensitivity and clarity of the Z1, here's an interesting product for you!

This is quite the claim " Liquid Sapphire improves the clarity of your screen, the effect is caused by the Sapphires in liquid which will be a technology used in all touchscreen devices over the years to come. "
i don't know about that... and i don't like that it's permanent and only removable via. sanding off? come on now.. so if it DOES scratch for whatever reason.. i'm stuck with a big gash til i sand it off and hopefully, not damage my phone?
i'll stick to plastic
