Well this brings up the issue of what SoC the next flagship will be running in the fall, assuming it is still on schedule and has not been postponed

they need to shelf the Z line up for now since the numbering has has pretty much gone off the rail and design has minimal changes and come out with new flagship, given up water proofing if they have to. reintroduce the new Z line up again when they actually have something fresh to show.

Well, as for sony, Sony mobile wouldn't die suddenly. It would retreat first to its home market just like other japanese brands.
But just my two cents, out of those three, I think Sony can save themselves independently.

I think Sony have much much more potential than HTC, especially BlackBerry on resurrect and get that amazingly far better future. is it possible that they delay their supposed 'E68xx' where supposed to be next Z Ultra, 'E67xx', supposed to be Z5, and 'E58xx', supposed to be Z5 compact? because that naming is for 2015, where 2016 will use Fxxxx. I want to buy a phone right now, and I'm afraid with Z3+'s overheating and battery, so Z3 is still worth the money for me. But still, I'm afraid I'll kill myself after IFA when something will come out.. So I'm confused in S*** right now on when and what to buy.. Any suggestions? just Sony please, should I wait till IFA?

Reducing the clock is make senses but how much it can do ?
I will looking forward to see what's SONY can do with it.

If they limit the cpu clock and earlier throttling then yes, the temperature can be reduced but at the same time the performance will decrease as well. Basically feels like Sony will be underclocking the SoC.
