People, a point and shot camera it must be just that ! Point and Shot ! While the handfull of freaks among us does not mind fiddling with controls after 'pointing' and before 'shooting', the vast majority of users do mind !

Mario, myself and Hiron have now replied to this 3 times. Adjusting the EV down 1 or 2 steps is not exactly 'fiddling' with the settings is it? The control is under your thumb as you take the picture.

If you can see the picture is overexposed in the viewfinder, you don't take the picture do you? I have a £300 Panasonic TZ-5, which is Point and Shoot, but like every Point and Shoot camera in the world it won't get it right everytime.

You have the wrong idea what a Point and Shoot Camera does. A point and shoot camera doesn't mean that it should always set up the perfect light balance and focus 100% everytime, like you are suggesting. It just means the estimated required settings are made for you, but it's up the Photographer, not the camera to take a good picture!

Eldar takes bad pictures, not because the camera is poor, but because he is a bad photographer. Even my 65 year old mother knows that when the picture 'looks to bright', to try again! Yet Eldar posts these pictures, suggesting it's all the camera is capable of.

You can see from Virgile Fontaines pics what the C905 can do. Clearly there is nothing at all wrong with the firmware or hardware, just a bad Photographer with an aversion.

Huh bud, thanks for the long explanatio. The thing is - you don't have to explain to me nothing. Eldar praised the k750 and how right he was. Eldar shot down the k850 and later he was proved to be right. Eldar is not that impressed by the c905 (nice hardware , bad firmware) and I am going once again to agree with him. Se is not improving at all ! They are dismissing workers, getting in partnerships to have their phones build (Sagem for low end and htc for wm and very probably nokia for s69 in 12 to 18 months) . I don't know, it just does not 'smell' right. How many months, indeed years until the FW is fixed (wait wait wait and more wait). Yes , nokia's FW (s60) was buggy too (and still is here and there) but has improved consistently over time. My n95 8gig takes nice pictures out of the box, not perfect, just ok for a cell, good enough for me and 1000's of other users out there ! Same with samsung. A cell phone (8mp or not) is not a DSLR camera! Point and shoot is what 'Johnny Bravo' down the road expects and that is what he gets with a nokia, samsung and even LG ! Not with a SE thou. The c905 is already slow at saving, now its fidely at 'taking' too This is where Eldar's review comes in and some of you misunderstude it.

Not wishing to labour the point, but, i have seen (as have many members here and elsewhere) hundreds, if not thousands of pictures taken by Eldar, using hundreds of different devices, never heard a pipsqueek about his photographic efforts untill this thread came along, that kinda places the onus on the errors of judgement and abilities being laid at other peoples door's IMO.

Well, I'm sorry, but you reap what you sow. At first he completely dismissed the phone off hand, along with C902 and the W302. So when he finally posts the full review and uses a whole bunch of poorly exposed pictures, you expect no-one to mention anything?

As we've said before, every other C905 user managed to get great pics, so what happened with Eldar? You can't blame the phone for that I'm afraid.

I agree with you... One person can't ruin the real quality of the phone by making one bad review while thousands are prooving the oposite....

P.S. Maybe eldar hates the C905 ... joking

Thank you for the long reply.

There is no proof at all, that there is a problem with the firmware. Where is that writen or reported?
As we keep pointing out, everyone else managed to get good pictures, why not Eldar?
And if other manufacturers are much better, how come Eldar couldn't even get the InnoV8 to focus for a macro pic? Because he posts the 'throwaways' everyone gets to try and make a point in his review. It's poor journalism whichever way you twist it.

'Thousands are proving the opposite?' Hmmm . . . I never knew the c905 is sold to 'thousands' already. If indeed it is that my mistake. On the other hand if you are refering to the k850 you should check your facts one again ! Not even SE denies that the k850 was a bit of a miss number. Every time I point out that the c905 is to big for what it offers, I am called a nokia boy, and if I say I would like to have a bigger screen/view finder like the competition has, I am dismissed as a SE hater.

Btw..whoever is saying that Eldar is crdible should have seen the last C905 review by Eldar. He simply bashed the C905 based on some wrong info and tried to make SE suffer..Any explanations on that??

And btw..What has a reviewer to do with the marketing of the phone? He reviews the phone and should be done with it. thats it, instead that guy writes BS about the C905 which is infact larger than the original review.

I don't think we can really hold it against Eldar. I've said it before, he's just a guy posting his opinions. He is entitled to say what he wants without being accused of SE hating and all this kind of thing.

The fact is many of the pics he posted are flawed, for example, BOTH innov and c905 examples of blurred photos, poor choice of white balance etc. Obviously he doesn't put a huge amount of effort into each and every picture, but so what? He takes thousands of photos and only posts a few samples. Maybe he didn't pick the best examples. It's silly to have conspiracy theory's about why.

Eldar performs an invaluable role in reviewing new handsets, for what ever mistakes he might make we have to thank him for atleast making the effort.

Let's focus on critiquing his reviews and not the man himself.

Well you are right... Actually I would criticise many other people because they are wrong... Thousands of people are saying the C905 is great phone with great features and camera. We have that prooven also by taken shots... And after thousands of positive thoughts about the phone, one man (review) appears with little negative opinion and many people are starting to believe him (or the review) while the other half are blaming him. It's a bit confusion out there...

I know, but we can point out errors in the review without getting personal about conspiracy theories, se hating accustions etc...

Which is all I'm trying to, but I get shot down for it.
