just formatted my 512mb memory stick. is it normal to only have 467mb out of 512mb of available memory after formatting? that sounds like an awful lot of system files. Mine is SanDisk. a check on the memory stick properties says it has 490mb capacity, with 467 available memory. i loaded 233mb of songs, and 234 still available. Anyone in the same situation? or sony has not been practicing truth in advertising?

Regarding SE being aware of the MS duo-bug or not, atleast the person i spoke to at SE Helpdesk in Sweden confirmed that they are aware of the problem. He also said that the latest P910i-firmware shares the same problem.
Of course he couldn't say anything about when to expect a new FW release but it will probably solve the problem. Or atleast it'll be an attempt to solve the problem.
And he said that if you want to downgrade to R1L their service-centers can do that.

Okey. Because iīve heard from call centre that you canīt downgrade to older firmware. But what do they know? They claimed that the service centre in Linköping is NOT a autorized SE service centre. Hm.
If you can downgrade i wonder what the f**k was wrong with my phone since they couldnīt find any software in it. And i have upgraded the firmware "sucessfully" with no hickups.
And i think its bad that they cant say when a new firmware is planned to be released. There should be a better planing by the software developers and a better communication between them and the call centre and other departments for that matter! But that is, i guess, just wishfull thinking.

You can actually downgrade the firmware. A poster called marct did it by renaming his previous R1L files to the new file names during the update process. Does anyone out there have the 2 R1L002 files from "C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\software-data" ?
I've given up trying to upgrade and need to get back to a stable environment.
btw, I can't just walk into a service centre because i'm in Bulgaria - unless any Bulgarians out there know differently?
Thanks

Okey! Thatīs fairly good news- that you can downgrade to the earlier stable firmware. (i wasnīt sure about that before)
I got the feeling when i talked to the people at SE today, that you can get your phone fixed if you claim that these firmware issues IS a fault that they have to fix under the warranty, if you now what i mean.
But itīs good that the customers mail and call SE to tell them that they are messing up every thing with their new firmware!

The R1L was originally on the phone when we bought it. Where can we get it?

sorry canīt find the files there. Donīt know where else they can be.
Are you going to upgrade your firmware? I donīt recomend that especially if you have a w800i.
The two firmwares i have upgraded with have only caused more problems and sorrows!
