I hope more broadband internet suppliers really start penetrating the market en mass and provide competitive deals/rates to give Telkom's offers a real run for their money.
Providers like Tiscali UK have fierce competition from the likes of BTInternet,Wannadoo,AOL and the like in the UK, to the extent that they have a spate of 'We're cheaper than you' ad campaigns running in the press and on TV.
I currently have AOL as my Broadband Internet service provider in the UK.I'm no big fan of their browser, but for a flat rate of 24.99 Pounds I get unlimited broadband internet at 512kbps.I use a Netgear router, which cost 69.99 Pounds and enables one to supply broadband internet for up to eight computers in the house with that particlar AOL account!(Not that we have anywhere near 8 computers!)Great for small businesses,as you can imagine.
The USB receivers for the other pc's now cost around 18 Pounds each in the UK.
I noticed a range of Belkin routers at Incredible Connection, exactly the same as what is available in the UK.
Of course, the wife is pretty happy too,as apart from the very quick downloading and page displays, the telephone is no longer out of action when surfing the net...
There are cheaper broadband suppliers in the UK;I have mentioned before that broadband can be had for around 15-17 Quid and up,but there might be limitations,or expensive customer care helplines, etc.
Again,it pays to do one's homework.
Having said all this,I am glad that SA is getting so 'up to speed'(sic) with broadband offers...let's see what happens as more IP's climb on the broadband bandwagon and hopefully provide some stiff competition for Helkom...

@Rhino, that predictive text gremlin sneaks into my texts every now and then too... Btw, did you know Delimi is a place in Nigeria? Regarding recent comments made here, my question remains- how does Vodacom intend competing with MTN re: lower gprs rates?

@Kryptik: Vodacom can start offering unlimited GPRS access for a flat fee or even offer data bundles to PAYG subs if they wanted to go the stingy route.

well well well vodacom is really slow and full of errors tonight Grrrr. yea i wanna see what voda got planned. MTN kinda got advantage with the bundles. the flat rate would be gorgeous. but unlikely i think. not under 200 or 250 bucks a month.
did not know that thing bout nigeria.
