Z3+ is still bigger than S6. Thats a fact! When comparing Z3+ and S6, people wont be saying this has a better screen to body ratio than the other. Just its bigger. Its not like Z3+ has a 5.5" screen.

Bigger by how much ?
2.6mm height & 1.5mm width... the screen difference alone is 2.54mm ( remember it's 5.2 in Z3+ vs 5.1 in S6 )
the screen to body ratio between both phones is very very small 70.9% in Z3+ vs 70.7% in S6, so Z3+ is better... a little bit larger yes but that's duo to the 0.1" larger screen...
This border thing is nice to notice, but it's not critical in any way with current designs... it's the design which gives you the impression of large borders...

On paper there's small difference but it's easily noticeable in your hand. Xperia's squareish shape makes it significantly more uncomfortable. It also goves the impression that there's a lot of wasted spacein top and bottom bezel. S6 at least has physical buttons and fingerprint scanner. Huawei P8 is basically as big as the Z3 but noone's complaining about big bezels because there are some design tricks hiding it. Yet again - old design is one of Sony's problems.

well you know what, I don't care about bezel this bezel that as long as the phone looks amazing imo.. What really matters are design, battery, camera, display, and memory management to me..

Spot on Penguino. And Z3+ is still bigger than S6 Xajel regardless. As I have said in my previous post, if Z3+ have the 5.5" screen like like the LG3, then the screen-to-body ratio become noticeable. You can see clearly see that how small the bezel is. Unlike the .1" difference that is indistinguishable.

^^ 0,1" difference combined with different shape makes the Z3 noticeably heftier.

Well, I do care about the bezels because size matters. Plus, design aside, big bezels just look ugly. In three of those things you mentioned (design, camera, display) Z3 is not particularly good.

Regarding the design of the next flags, the highest priority about it needs to be smaller top and bottom bezel while still keeping it fingers friendly. no doubt about it afaic. i don't care about thickness as long as it is around 8mm or 8+ or reasonably thick, i care less if they use y concept, tube, or whatever as long as the materials are premium and feel premium though i do have preference for metal, not that glass is bad but for the sake of change. not that i have problem with z line bezels, they are not really bigger then most rivals and ob premium design arguably makes up for it so well even if one thinks they are a bit too big. i held s6 and s6 edge and afaic z3 has much better design and z3+ even better. no doubt. anyway, above all, sony needs to make smaller top and bottom bezels for the reason of making a statement of a change, something fresh, going out of their comfort zone.
and if you don't agree about all i wrote here then i'm not your friend.

some weekend rumours. Could be true or could be just beer talking
SR3:
Z5 is similar to Z3 but with fingerprint scanner
Z5+ is 5.5" 4k phone
Z5 compact has smaller lower bezel - bit off balance but shorter than Z3 compact
camera: new sensor, new software, faster focus - is the new camera only for Z5+ or for all - don't know
launch in fall (probably later than September)

you guys do know that Sony is BSing about the omnibalance design right? it looks balanced top/bottom right/left, but if you were to measure the top and bottom bezels you will find that the top is slightly wider than the bottom, around 0.10 inch? At least it is present on the Z/Z3/Z3+/Z4, dont know about the Z1 and Z2. not like it matters to an average consumer but I have a little OCD, so when i got my Z3 White (which i think its more obvious) i noticed the off balance and it bothers me sometimes lol.
and look, the S810 isnt as bad as some people say it is
