The burgers in USA don't taste different... the
buns taste different

I worked for an American chain restaurant for a while. My sister worked at macD's for the better part of 2 years. They in to great lengths to ensure the burger DOES in fact taste the same around the world. I won't in into detail because it's too long a story to type on my phone now. The bread is purchased from local industrial bakeries. Also, the bread available is very different per location. For example we Dutch have a rather large variety in bread available. To be continued coz I ran out of space

I have yet to meet the first Dutch person that's lived in the USA and was not appalled by the stuff they call bread. No wonder they always toast it, it is inedible otherwise. Moral of the story: the taste and quality differs per location, as does the 'taste' of people. If macD would stick their burgers on American buns they would not sell here.

defeats the whole purpose though if the bread tastes different

If by making that one concession to their concept of using bread that will suit the local taste, makes their sales increase, it's a perfectly logical step to make.

yes but why make the burgers taste the same then if the buns then go and make them taste different - how does that make sense?

how does that work then? if the burger is eaten as it will taste different wherever it is eaten if the bread is adapted to local tastes as marga says. why then go to great lengths and therefore cost to make the burger taste the same? that does not make any sense unless they wanted to make the meal taste the same which they don’t or they want to spend money for no apparent reason.
anyway board of this convo so im off out
