I'm quite sure by his grammar he means over the past year, as in 2006.

Have you actually owned both phones?

In the last year i have had the k800/n73 and n93. N73 is ok and as good as the k800 in daytime but so slow in taking pics.

You know what i meant mate. The k800 has been out for ages now as have th n73 and n93 and i have had all three of them.

Typical Nokia fan making stupid comments without any real basis for argument.

And in regard to reviews or whatever. Most of you nokia fanboys tend to go by the statement "this review was conducted by 75 people or whatever" therfore this phone rules!!!!

Thats absolute rubbish. Thats x peoples opinions. The only way truley know is to have owned both and make up your own mind.

When you have owned both then come back and make a statement on here. Anyone can pull up a review and go by it which is what i was demonstrating before.

The truth of the matter is that ever since imaging in phones started yes Nokia were the kings with the 7650 or 6630 but then SE came along and came out with the s700. And ever since then they have been the most consistent where as Nokia still cant figure out how to make that awful purple fog go away?

By the way n73 owners what do you think of the purple fog in low/night shots? Isnt it annoying that you forked out for this hpone and a basic feature doesnt even work? And what doyou n73 owners think of the CIF video? Up until the n70 CIF wwa really crisp and clear and i was looking forward to the n73 much.

In the purple fog and poor cif resolution i had no choice but go back to the k800.

At least they have a flash which is unrivalled by any other phone on the market. Yes even the LGK...5mp phones xenon flash isnt as good as the k800s.

To be honest video is important to me so k800 was kinda dissapointing but i know thats not going to be the case in the next range of phones so Nokia will have even stiffer competition come Q1/2 2007.

http://www.mobiletoday.co.uk/products/tracker.asp?i=73&page=

Check out the site above, where is the n73????? Its nowhere to be seen!!!

And now i thought id point out the poor codecs in nokia phones (bar the n93). Heres a little clip i ripped from a dvd or my k800, see if it plays on the n73? Nokias prehistoric codecs wont allow it for sure!

Ok so heres a really good photo shoot out:

http://www.newmobile.nl/eur/en/news.php?news_id=caf44c

Notice on the night shots how bad the n73 really is. I mean come on silly comments aside can you really stick up for this phone with such a big bug like this?

When the n80 came out they had the problem (which it still does but its been out so long nobody gives a flying feck) with he grainy video which was a far cry from previous models, and I saw people saying "well yeah its not good but n80 isnt a video orientated phone its ok for me".

And i could only think to myself. Thats besides the point! Youve paid for a high end phone and some parts dont work as they should but your happy becuase yu dont use that feature? That was a disgrace given the delays experienced on release of the n80. But thats the problem with nokia you see, they rush out too many phones and dont perfect them so they can never become sucesfully over a long period like the k800 can.

Nokias technology is normally (not always though: HSDPA ect...)behind. They were one of the last to incorporate high 262k screens and even autofocus. Battery life has always been less on Nokias.

Another example, take the music rival phones. N91 v W950.

Whilst Nokia rushed out with the n91 whose memory micro drive is comprised of outdated moving part technology the w950 uses flash memory making it more stable and better quality build wise.

The SE rival to the n93/n95 is yet to be unveiled but when it does you canbet your pants of it will beat that as well as it has beaten the n73.

Just like the k750 and w800 beat the n70 + n90. !!!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Ive posted this before but here it is again.

Conclusion

When we sum up a complete conclusion of the complete photo quality then it becomes clear that the Sony Ericsson K800i sticks to the number one position. There is no reason to buy the KG920, due to the fact that it takes to much time to make a photo and there is no extra quality in relation to the amount of available pixels. The N73 and N93 are nice devices with a reasonable quality. The N93 is too fat and too large, but has 3x optical zoom.

Especially the easy controls make the difference with respect to the K800i. It is something the other devices cannot match. Taking a picture with one of the three devices from a nice object or current situation is not possible. There are too many steps that need to be addressed before the devices are ready. The current situation is then already gone. The menu of the K800i is also one the easiest ones. All functions have the correct name in any language translation. Something that Nokia should address better.

There are not that many differences in relation to the settings in the devices. The N93 does not have the options pre-flash and red eye reduction. The N93 and N73 do not have a xenon flash. The KG920 has all you need, but the quality within the settings is not the same as the K800i. Options like BestPic, the possibility to shoot panorama photos or frame photos are strong points in the Sony Ericsson device. All these options are not available in the other devices. The BestPic system is something that should be placed in any camera phone. You shoot nine photos and choose the best photos from this set. You will never experience failed photos.

The winner on the flash is the K800i. With a distance of at least several meters the K800i makes the best pictures with enhanced flash. The xenon flash in the KG920 is not as good as the K800i but reaches a distance of one meter. The N93 and N73 have a simple LED light. There is a major difference between the two. The N73 has a higher range than the N93.

Are they no weak points in the K800i? Yes, there are! The video camera is really weak and is not the quality you would expect in such a device. The other three make better video and N93 is the best video camera device in the market currently. However the device does not offer the quality as suggested in the slogan DVD quality video. Next to that the size of the device is something that should be considered.

Can we address the question mentioned at the beginning of this comparison? Yes, we can. The Sony Ericsson K800i is currently the best camera phone. The complete camera quality, control and easy way in which Sony Ericsson build-in the camera options make the device the absolute winner. A drawback is the video. The K800i is closely followed by the N73 and N93. Both offer a stronger video quality than the Sony Ericsson device, but leave points behind on other items. Finally the KG920 suffers on easy control and does not show extra quality in relation to its specifications.

That's the wisest thing I've heard in a longer time

There is no really better OVERALL one between those models, just a better one for one's taste&needs...

But still its just one user´s opinion and it only concerns the cam. There are also other reviews that point N73´s camera as being better than K800 whose xenon flash is the only advantage. Just because one person used both and prefered k800 that doenst make it better. Its just a personal preference. Nokia is not behind in terms of technology, thats a lie. Nokia is ahead now and offers superior phones ( in terms of specs and tech) than in every segment. What about other features? U may not use all of them but i´m sure there are people who use most of them or use one that K800 doesnt have like quickoffice, videogame emulator and much better video. I may not own both models but i have videos taken by them on my pc and i can say for sure that n73 beats the crap out of K800. I´ll post here a list of things N73 have that are superior than k800, this list was previously posted by other member but i took the permission to repost it (note that most advantages dont even concern symbian OS and if we take that in consideration N73 also works like a PDA while K800 doesnt even dream of doing so)
- N73 has stereo speakers. K800 dont.
- N73 has much bigger screen (40% bigger in terms of physical area)
- N73 has much better video rec than K800.
- N73 has bigger size and much cheaper memory card support
- N73 has better picture (according to public survey in M-R)
- N73 has better PIMs like unlimited phonebook, calendar and of course the very useful active today screen.
- N73 has independent voice dialing. K800 is still using voice tags.
- N73 has better blog system which automatic log your activities like sms, image/video taking, notes & calendar entries and later allow you to sync to your PC/blog. K800 blog is very rudimentary compared to this.
- N73 has Nokia mobile-search - customised yellow pages capability. K800 dont have this.
- N73 has PTT and EDGE support (K800 dont have this)
- N73 has much better multi-tasking (you can have any apps opened instead being restricted to java in K800)
- N73 has much better document handling capability (office docs, flash and pdf). K800 dont even come close.
- N73 has a much better web-browser
- N73 has better gallery/image viewer (slideshow with music) and album support (instead of folder based)
- N73 has better profile system incl. going to offline/music mode without rebooting.
- N73 has much better theme system - you can change most of the UI unlike K800 which is restricted to certain aspect like wallpaper.
- N73 has unlimited sms storage
- N73 has support for 3rd party Symbian apps
- N73 has better and more games and emulators support

Yes. You posted this exact post earlier. I posted a response. But in case you forgot, here are some few points:

K800 has a sharper screen with higher contrast.
K800 has stereo Bluetooth
K800 has better battery life
K800 can be charged through USB
K800 has Xenon flash
K800 is MUCH MUCH faster

We have been through all your points and these before. Why repeat it? Now the discussing is about the camera and face it - The N73 does not win in any serious comparison.

We had a thorough walkthrough with serious comparison of pictures and it claims the K800 is superior. And that beats ALL user survey taken with any average Joe that thinks artificial colors means better quality.

Face it. When it comes to pictures the K800 wins this one.

Look at this picture taken with K800:
http://www.mobilmania.cz/Arti[....]yEricsson_K800i&file=%2F12.JPG

And then look at the N73:
http://www.mobilmania.cz/Arti[....]Mpx%2FNokia_N73&file=%2F12.jpg

The N73 is totally overdrive when it comes to colors. The red is TO red, the blue is to blue and the color of the building is totally of. Unrealistic to say the least.

Come on now....this topic is getting a bit boring...it's like being back at school...having owned both, i prefer the n73. it's able to do so much more, as you would expect from a smartphone...if i didn't want a smartphone, then i would probably go back to SE..although not the k800i, as ive had 3, and all of them with joystick issue's...

At the end of the day, we all have different taste's...i don't give a crap for review sites or their opinion's...nip in to a shop and use one yourself...then make your mind up.

You are just taking bad shots of N73 taken by a website as representative of N73. This is ridiculous. In the following review,

http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-n73-cam-en.shtml

N73 nightshots are pretty good. In fact, night landscape shots for N73 beats K800. Even the reviewer who is known to be pro-SE has this to say:-

Quote:From M-R review: However usage of (K800) electronic shutter does not allow making shots with big exposure, and have no blur on them, as from huge handshake. Usage of mechanic shutter in Nokia N73 allows making better shots at night (in most cases they turn out crisper). As intermediate solution Twilight Landscape feature can be used in Sony Ericsson, but still shots don’t come out that crisp.

W950 is really advanced because it has NO camera and NO wifi.

The following article said the N90 beats K750/W800 in photo quality. Hope you dont fume up.
