@doublecheese

Agree to that. It could have been an option. I'm to a FO man. I like the phone better that way. It's more sexy when it's "naked"

Here is the kind of nonsence SE are sending out when you tell them you have a problem! it is a complete joke

Dear Geoff,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.
With regards to your enquiry, we would advise that you update the software that you have on the handset, this can be done via our website at www.sonyericsson.com in the support section.

LOL! Seems like we're working harder then SE's tech support to keep their fans happy.

Flip Off is way to cool, but it's harder to use

@Nitro Fan
I think these are computer generated automated messages. Computer just selects an approtiate pre created sentence. This shows how SE guys are fed up with the complaints for the P990.

By the way , I'm thinking that maybe it would be best if we could send our messages to the place/country where the software for P990 is being created . I really think that our messages to Local SE in our countries can only help upto a certain point. In most cases they don't even understand what we mean if it's something technical.

Once I was using a Nokia 7650 and there was this bug with the video player format. At local Nokia nobody could really understand what I meant 'cos they weren't engineers or something similar. So I decided that I will find somebody who works in writing the software for the Nokia. I have made alot of research in alot of forums and I finally found a Turkish guy who worked in Nokia as a programmer who had been talking to other engineers for other stuff, from his signature I understood that he works in Nokia. So PM'd him and explained him the Nokia bug with the 7650's video format, he easily understood what I meant, and this was fixed by nokia on their next FW.

Does anybody have contacts in SE P990 software writing dept

Video playback - I downloaded a couple of movies for the PSP to see how they ran on the P990i. I downloaded an Eminem video and some porn video (was meant to be HQ....well that's my excuse!) The Eminem video played ok but if you try and adjust the volume with the scroll wheel it hangs the picture although the sound continues. You can exit the Video player Ok and end it using Swiss manager but if I try play the video again although the timer button moves along Ok there is no sound or picture.

I tried the porn video which ran great on my PC. Very good picture. On the phone it's pixelated and a bit choppy.

Is both the above down to the bitrate of the vids?

haha. Err they we're torrents.... I'll post the file names when I get home

Ok another bug as I see it. I type a SMS over 160 characters. (so counts as 2 SMS). I hit send but forget to confirm it's Ok to send as two SMS. The message will disapear and not be saved to drafts. It's very annoying.

Can I take off the confirmation to send if over 1 SMS?

3. No, that's not the case cause it happens when the phone is not connected anyware.

8. Thanks a lot, got that done.

And here are some new problems i've noticed:

11. When I’m on a call using a Bluetooth headset, and I receive a second call, I cannot pick the call using my Bluetooth button. I could do this in my P900.

12. If I’m in a call, in flip closed mode; and I open the flip, the speaker phone does not turn on, this used to happen in P800,P900 and P910.

13. While in camera on (flip closed), there are no shortcuts to camera options, for e.g. in W550i the slide lock button switches on and off the light; or the number buttons can be used for picture size and effects etc.

14. In flip closed mode if I long press any button (2-9), it is supposed to open the phonebook with the contact of the nearest matching alphabet on the key pressed; this does not happen, instead it just opens the phonebook.

15. Sounds for things like camera shutter, battery low warning are very low. In the predecessors I could change it with the multimedia volume, but not in this.

Anyone for these...

@vinaymieux

11 - Works fine with me
12 - That needs to be corrected by SE FW
14 - it works fine with me, If I press any number, the first letter on that number opens- However at FO mode the same happens as you say

agree guy h. Losing a long text over 2 sms by not confirming or cancelling is SOOOO annoying. Should be saved to drafts. Then have to retype it. Arggh!
