Have any current vf customers upgraded to the P990? If so, what kind of price did you pay? I've been with vf for many years. My last upgrade was the P900 when it first came out. My avg. bill is about £100 / month, but I have been quoted £150 for the P990 upgrade. Does this sound a bit steep? Gotta admit I'm thinking about changing supplier if I can get a better deal...

I've got two lines with them (My own and my Mom's). We spend £75 each on our bill, so combined value of £150/ month. she was offered a P990i for £100 on an early upgrade (9 months into an 18 month contract). I'd already been offered (and accepted) a V1605 10 months into my (18 month) contract for the same price.

@Sainty: oops thanks for the correction I'll pop into the nearest store today and see how I get on...

@Marc_SE: thanks for the info. As my wife is also with Vodafone maybe I can get a better deal.

Cheers for the info guys - will let you know how I get on!

Are your lines on the same account? This may well help when it comes to lloking at your account and assessing how good/important a customer you are (as you will have a combined bill). I've got a feeling that's how my account has been assessed.

Hmm I don't think so, as up until last month I've been running my phone through my limited company. I've just transferred it into my own name (closing down company), which I guess may also cause problems (e.g. if the previous spend history has been lost with the transfer).

Time for another call to VF

Did I get a good deal?

Signed up in store for a VF 12 month £30 conract £100 handset with 250 text which I was told included data but then found out didn't. Had to move to an 18 month contract to get 1000 text with phone at £50 that could be used for data then a couple of days latter found I was being charged and told none of the new text bundles from 1st Sept. now include data.

After clearly showing I wanted a tariff that gave me inclusive data with contract clearly signed at the store, they converted me to a pre-september tarriff on 200 minutes with a £40 extras pack 100% refunded for 18 months with phone at £50 giving me up to 51MB GPRS/3G data or upto 1000 texts (mix & match).

To summarise: 18month @ £30, P990i @ £50, 200 minutes Xnet and 1000text/51MB data.

Anybody who has signed up for current 1000 text extras for data use be carefull as you may be in for a shock.

I can confirm my data is now not being charged and they are refunding me £12 I was charged in just 3 days for data at £2.35/mb!!!!

Hmm I just walked into a VF store and asked the manager if they had any P990's, he said they had got some in error and they had 1 left (?) and he would do me a deal today only, if I go on £35 500mins tariff which had 3 extras (extra txt or mins etc) he would let the phone go for £0 instead of £100. Sounds good, but when I asked him about data non was included and txt's didn't count...what do you reckon?

Yes thats what I found after they initially said the new 1000 text count but then found they didn't.

As I said, I managed to get them to give me a pre Sep 1st tariff as I only signed up because of supposed data included which was documented on my service contract (signed by store).

Yeah looks like you got a good deal, I'm still really tempted though, good price plan and free phone (How can I tell if the phone would be branded?) I'm on o2 out of contract and have spent over £50 a month mainly from data charges on top of my £35 plan and was waiting to see what deal I could get from them so I was caught off guard abit, what do you reckon...?

If its from VF it is branded but only with VF startup screen, web links & connection profiles. The ones they are currently selling come in standard sliver SE box which are currently unlocked (have tried my Orange SIM OK).

Only downside is that firmware upgrades will take longer than standard phone as VF will need to approve.

I would imagine the one they had has gone now anyway.

The VF 3g coverage seems to be very good as I can get it at office & home plus I travel around the country & everywhere I've been upto now gives 3g coverage.
