I did that same thing between my w580i and my girlfriend's s500i. I think the phones have additional flash software installed to run those themes properly.
just my 2cents
do you think there is a way to upgrade the firmware or something in order to get it working

this has only happened recently.. does anyone know how to fix this?
i want to be able to just hold it, instead of pressing 4 and then pressing call

do you think there is a way to upgrade the firmware or something in order to get it working
there is a GREAT guide by ranphi over at howardforums showing you how to flash your s500i (getting walkman v2 etc) then getting back your beloved s550i themes (flash menu n all) including all the w580i ones too
