From Google: A menu pops up on your phone asking you to choose between Mirror or Desktop mode.

It’s not something I think I’ll need, but how do I connect the phone to a monitor?
My monitor has inputs for DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, and HDMI.
I have no such cables to connect the phone.
You use a USB-C cable. If your monitor doesn't support USB-C video input, you can get an adapter to fit your available ports. I used to do this from my pixel book using a USB-C HDMI cable.
@goldenface
I hope they didn't nerf that feature on xperias! that would be upsetting. I believe it's something that pops ups as an option after you've connected an external monitor.

Don't know about you guys but, I've had a couple of times when I've been unable to wake the phone up out of rest mode.
The screen stays blank after you press the power button in. Then after a minute or so, its back to normal.
Anyone else?

I doubt they have.
Noticed that in android 17 is the option "Enable freeform windows on secondary displays" under Window management (Developer Options) locked to enabled.
Left pic is from Android 17 and right pic Android 16. Both 1 VIII.

No issues here but I'm also not on A17 yet.

Got to say a I like the quick settings menu refresh and the general UI animations. I looks a lot nicer. You can also adjust the brightness level of the torch feature.

Got the notification for August security patch last night. It's a hefty one at 613MB. Version 73.0.A.2.62.
We'll probably have another month before getting android 17 on the japanese model
